Can someone explain to the Kusari Police to stop throwing themselves in front of my guns?

So I goto a Kusari Base and get a mission to kill some pirates they're having trouble with. They offer me 100k to do this, so I know it's going to be a bit difficult compared to the equipment I had at the time.
They even offer to send some of their pilots to help me out, which is nice.

Right, so I fly off to the mission location and sure enough lots of pirates there, although conspicuously NO police, but fine I say and proceed to dogfight with Pirates.
After a bit of a scrap, I finish them off but am informed I'm not done yet (Was that in the contract? I think not! but nevermind, I'm doing ok) .

I get to the new destination and start fighting (Alone mind you!), about halfway through the fight, I get a message "I thought you could use some help". Well actually I didn't, doing quite nicely ACTUALLY. Even so I accept.

This is the bit that miffs me.... These cops start flying right in front of me to get a shot at the remaining pirates and then have the AUDACITY to tell me to stop shooting at them! I do my best to comply, but it's not easy when I'm being attacked by a couple of pirates behind me (why don't the police attack THEM!?)

So I DO accidentally shoot the police a few times as they're right in my face, after which they decide to outlaw me even though it's their fault.
After that I'm not only fighting Pirates, but Police as well and am forced to kill off about 10 cops and the remaining pirates, not an easy feat, but manage it.

Thereafter I have to sneak past various Kusari bases and dodging cops etc to get to a friendly system. Which happens to be the next Kusari system anyway.

But PLEASE someone train the Kusari Police to fly in combat properly.... grrr..

  • lol ! :D nice but right story.

Well, it happens with all NPCs, mainly, it just depends on some luck and skills. NPCs automaticly go for th ehostile losest to them, and if you keep using the "closest enemy" button/option, it can happen to targe the same hostiles.

Try to target the ones that are already in front of you, clicking on them and firing.

  • That's right Bond :D

But still it can ruin your hard worked rep with some faction :S

  • Yes it was written as a bit of RP fun :D , I'm not really annoyed and I appreciate it's a limitation of the in game AI.

  • You mean the Nomads?
Yeah I've seen that mission (the Intro Crossfire mission in the in-game news) and know how to get to it, I'm just working up to get a decent ship with some nice kit before I attempt it.

As to targeting other ships instead of using the "R" key, yeah I''ll try that, but sometimes in the manicness of fighting loads of opponents, it's not always convenient to do that.

  • Nomads ? muahahaha
No, the nomads are just Dom Kavash pets... you will have some fun against Dom Kavash but you will be their ally when it's time that human kind + dominator kavash defend our own galaxy from outer galaxy invaders... ( that means, way more powerful ! )

Now I have to wish you...
    Good luck ! you'll need it :D

  • Ah ok, I will wait for the plot to unfold as I play the campaign then :)

  • In the extended campaign, you might encounter some issues of CTDs or errors, but all the known ones are already solved on here, so no worries :)

Note: The huge nomad ship you will meet, is called "Strike Carrier" , there was of the most frequent errors report, but solved.

  • I've been known to do a few missions in Kusari space [heehee], and I always try to pick the ones where I fly solo. Remember, when you enter the Bar on any planet or station, there are 2 ways to get a job: 1) from the job board and 2) from random people on the bar screen. When you dock, the jobs on the job board are static [meaning they do not change if you go to the Commodity or Equipment screen] but the random bar jobs DO change. If there are no jobs I like on the Job Board or from the bar people, I just switch to the Comodity or Equipment screen, then go back to the bar. The Job Board hasn't changed but the random bar jobs do change. It sometimes takes a few tries but soon, I get a job that I like to do: solo jobs against Blood Dragons [BD's always drop 100k pilot pods]. I can fill the hold of my Haider [330 pods = 33 million plus mission money and loot]. Using this method, I can make 40 million in about 2.5 - 3 hours.

  • Thats always great if your playing MP as thats what I do for Outcasts, or I head to X3034 and try afew missions there. But for SP you can't take missions that high until you are at that level. I have not made it to far in SP as I am doing MP far more these days. But yes you can make a bundle killing NPCs and selling pods. Low level guys or higher ones you make far more then trading.

See You In Space Soon :)

  • Well it seems you can add the Texan and NY Police to the list. I was outlawed in both system for a while due to the same issue, although slightly different circumstances.
These times it was coz I was defending bases being attacked by pirates.

It seemed to better in the Rheinland systems or at least I didn't get outlawed. I might have accidentally fired a few shots across the bow of some Rheinland Police, but maybe they were more forgiving or I was getting better at not shooting Police.. ;)

  • Mayybe you do are getting better at not hitting your own side :D Afte rall the practice.

If you ruin your rep slighly, just go To Hudson, shoot a load of Xeno's, this will fix your rep on all Factions.
But be careful, too many will make u an enemy to the Zoners.

    Cygna.

    ( I'll Be Back Soon ) ;)

  • Then you can bribe Zoners, but that will affect your rep with Corstairs, or depending on which base you bribed them. But anyway Corsairs barely change when killing Xenos, so you can bribe thsoe separatedly :D
