Greatly depends on the ship... Some VHFs have really obscuring cockpits and some like the Redemption have a little to no visible cockpit in cockpit mode. However if the ship has little obscuring cockpit in view, I'll probably go for that due to better weapons tracking in PvP or PvNPCs.

yes and better overview of battlefield (but cockpit is more cool, because you have "this" feeling)
