Does anyone know a way to make the Mod run in a window, i like alternating between a few programs at the same time, and since i only play SP, its not gonna be a problem on any server.

Does anyone know a way to make the Mod run in a window, i like alternating between a few programs at the same time, and since i only play SP, its not gonna be a problem on any server.
Pausing and Windowed mode are intentionally disabled in Crossfire because they cause trouble in MP.
If you really need to use windowed mode then you will have to replace Freelancer.exe. But that causes some problems, because Crossfire's Freelancer.exe is modified from the original. For example, visibility limits are increased dramatically in Crossfire, which is what allows you to see a jump gate or jump hole at long range. With the vanilla Freelancer.exe you would lose that ability, which is important to the game. There are other changes as well. And, of course, it messes up the launcher, so that it is impossible to play MP if you do this.
In other words, it is not easy, no.
A better solution is to simply Alt-Tab away from Crossfire. On my machine that sometimes causes a troublesome graphical artifact, so I keep Process Explorer (a fancy task manager) running and open on a second screen. Process Explorer allows me to easily select my Crossfire (or other) window(s) if the icon(s) is(are) obscured.

If you have Freelancer and your desktop set to the same resolution then alt+tab switches instantly, it's pretty much like having windowed full screen.

The solution does not work for me. Alt-tab merely crashes freelancer most of the time, no matter what resolution my game and desktop are set to.
Freelancer doesn't play well in fullscreen with dual monitors for me, and it's kind of a load of shit that my favourite mod for freelancer doesn't support a mode that I require in my games. What the hell kind of problems could windows cause in multiplayer to anyone other than myself? We should be able to click "ok" on an "are you sure you want to do this? it may cause you some issues."
I've never been so frustrated about a game in my life. I've been so excited to hop into some multiplayer on a mod that doesn't suck, and for whatever idiotic reason the mod developers disable the option for windowed mode. I am very disappointed.
And to think I can get banned for playing online if I switch the crossfire .exe with the freelancer one, due to the "modifying the .exe is against the rules blah blah blah"... \=

For whatever idiotic reason you cannot play in full video mode when i am able to do so in dual view as well? Why keeps your FL crashing when alt tab if mine is not. Maybe its something at your end of the line...*headshaking_therearepeopleinthisworld*
BTW for whatever idotic reason i do have to wait if the traffic light switches to red? Such a stupid thing...

FL supports focus change, something's wrong on your end. I'm frustrated about Silent Hill 2 not supporting windowed mode but I'm not making a mess about it.
