I have. I have done all of the quests, mapped every system, visited every base, killed every type of alien except for the largest Dom cap ships, found most of the wrecks, and returned all of the surviving GMG pilots back to the GMG base in Omega 3. I played most of it with difficulty_scale set to 2.0... until I reached the Inner Core!

I personally find MP boring, as do many hard-core SP players. I do not find it fun to do PVP when my ping times are ten times longer than my opponent's. That is a larger handicap than any combination of ships, shields, and weapons. A local Crossfire server (or just Crossfire servers on other continents) would help that. Also, I can have more variety in the game with SP, and I can play whenever I want to (and pause whenever I want to).

I am not debating whether SP is "superior" to MP (which is a silly debate anyway). I am just saying that MP and SP are different games, and different players have different thoughts on what is "more fun".

I have no complaints. I have had more hours of fun with just the Crossfire mod than I have had with any other computer game.

    Interesting...

time to make your own ssytems now !! heheh

the ping can't be 10 times worse... adn there Are fighters who use that ping, of 200 and some fluct, and still play and they are pretty good ^^

Anyways, about the storyline, I was telling about the one which starts in Death Valley, and it has no end,for now it's at arriving at Inner Core system, but it's not finished yet !!, So be up to date with OP's work ^^ As he has plans for more, but has other stuff, more important to do to the mod for now.

And... dififculty to 2.0... hardcore SPers... try me on MP and oyu'll know what hardcore is ;) If you have time to see something before you see 'the light' :P

  • setting the bar higher and higher has one big disadvantage
it took me months meanwhile to get the server running stable (halfway)
there is no other mod out there which is at least have as big as CF and working on such large mods is terrible

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

Well, I never made it into the Nomad base on Styx, and obviously not onto hostile Dom bases. Otherwise, yes. As I said, most of the time I increased the difficulty rather than decreased it. Of course, it only took a few trips into the Inner Core before I turned difficulty_scale back to 1.0. :)

    > time to make your own ssytems now !! heheh

I have modified systems, and many other things in Freelancer. After all of these years, the modding is at least half of the fun.

    > the ping can't be 10 times worse

Of course it can. It can easily be more than ten times. Ask OP what his ping is. :)

    > about the storyline, I was telling about the one which starts in Death Valley, and it has no end,for now it's at arriving at Inner Core system, but it's not finished yet !!,

Right, I was talking about the same thing. The last Quest (1.81) was to return the surviving GMG pilots, which I did.

That's what I meant about ping disparity. Frame rate matters as well.

I would do PVP with you on a LAN-based Crossfire server... which is how this thread started!

    Yes, exactly.

Still, though, it is a cool achievement. How many other people have built something as cool as Crossfire? Ever in their entire lives?

You might as well retire now, OP. It will be hard to do anything more impressive in the rest of your life. You would be better off just giving up now...
