Crossfire 1.81 no longer works since the upgrade.

My A/V started treating the game like a virus and I can no longer invoke the freelancer.exe file. I am using Kaspersky A/V. Any help appreciated. BTW, I download the patchrules up to 30, the machine says "done" then I have no video unless I hit escape 3 times to get to the Crossfire Mod screen (pink/reddish color page with a ship firing a rocket). I have NO video up to this screen. It stays up for about 5 seconds then crashes back to desktop. I really don't want to go back to the other large mod but I will if this can't be fixed.
