Can't get Freelancer to work? Crashes, Blue screens and freezes all got fixed by turning 3D sound OFF!

    How many people have been having problems with running Freelancer and/or Freelancer mod?


    How many people have tried turning 3D sound off?


    If you are having ANY problems with FL and you have not checked 3D sound OFF, TRY IT! :D


    My friend had even started mucking about with drivers and fresh installs of windows XP before I came over and took one look at his FL game and turned this option off... what would you know the game works fine now...


    He was getting blue screens and freezes but this fixed it! :D

    Yes, turning 3D sound off is one of the main(together with the one of restarting the game with a server crash) necessary advises we give. The sound is the same anyway, but not turning it off even made trains or bigger ships get stuck (forever) in the jumpholes light tunel sequence...

    I have also been realising the only problems with games I have had are AUDIO caused... like in Stalker shadow of chernobyl I have random short freezes just before you hear certain sounds, dogs barking, giger counter... wierd... must try changing some settings or trying out a sound card...

    thats a common problem with onboard sound
