If yopu have a graphics card which is newer than the cards available at the time FL was created then for obvious reason they wont be recognised. My graphics card for example is an Nvidia GS 250 and i get that message but just ignore it because my graphics card is so new i know there is no problem.
On the otherhand if you have an older card than the recomended ones FL needs then you may have problems because the older card does not have enogh power to support the needs of FL. Hope this helps a bit. :> -
its no matter if you really have an grafikcard in your comp
click the "dont show me this message again" button and play
-
Yea, ignore it, hit the button and resume Crossfiring.
Sadly, it's a reminder of how old Freelancer really is... There is a a fix out there for it from what I understand that Louva-Deus at the EOA Players Consortium has been working on over the years,(now part of the Quick Fix addon/update for Freelancer) adding graphics card manufacturer IDs to the Freelancer graphics card database files so it would "recognize" newer, more modern cards. Apparently though I'm gonna assume OP has a workaround in place for Crossfire, as this error/message/flag from Freelancer does not affect it.

NO IT IS A FATAL ERROR...THE ONE U R TALKING ABOUT SAYS THAT IT CANT RECOGNISE MY GPU......THE 1 IM TALKING ABOUT SAYS THAT MY GPU DOSEN'T SUPPORT 3D
I MEAN THAT IT SAID THAT IT DID NOT FIND A GPU CAPABLE OF 3D

what directx version do i need and since i use my old pc so would u please tell me if DX11 compatible with it
-
You said you use your old PC? How old are we talking here? This game was made in 2003 so if your computer is a Windows 95-98 or 2000 computer you probably won't be able to run the game because Crossfire is pretty intense on low end comps (mine is 2007 and it barely runs some of the new graphics). This isn't OP's fault or anything, just that he made the mod so amazing that the only way to experience it fully is on a decent current computer.

no it has xp made in 2004 it is able to run fl and cf 1.7 very smoothly
tried everything including updating my gaphix driver but there was no update.checked if some feature was disabled but nothing
will turning off advanced controls help?
but i dont want to compromise graphix but if there is NO other way then............ -
Sounds like u need to disable all advanced graphics options and enable legacy video card support when you activate 1.81 in flmm
just a note...i built my pc last year...not ultra high end...but i use these settings....and game looks amazing -
can u just tell me how to do that? did that a long time ago n dont remember how to do it
advanced graphix optins in CF? and what about legacy support
please put with details
-
2004 is still kinda old. How much graphics memory (VRAM) does your comp have. I had one about that old and it only had 32mb of vram so you may need to check.

In other words, use Freelancer Mod Manager (FLMM) to re-activate Crossfire. That means that you will have to deactivate Crossfire, first.
In spite of widely-known and discussed bugs in FLMM, I am told that it works fine the way it is.
YMMV (Your Mileage/experience May Vary).
There is an installation guide that gives you step-by-step instructions in the Crossfire Mod folder under the FLMM folder (CFguide.swf). If you can find that and get it to run then it will give you the full step-by-step instructions.
There was a copy of the guide published here but the link seems to be broken: http://www.swat-portal.de/crossfire/CFguide.swf

the link u gave me does notwork but i get it...so i turn off advanced graphix and turn on support for ols GPUs,right?...............wish i could use my PSC right now but for a few months..it will be used for scientific purposes only.......maybe by that time nvidia'a fermi will be out n ill be the first one to buy to of them and then it will truly be a PSC
-
MAN....IM MISSING ALL THE ACTION DUE TO THIS PROBLEM
-
i actually dont understand this problem
FL checks for graphic cards... and gives an error message
a message that can get ignored actually coz the game will work with every dx8 or better graphic card -

Hell, I'm running on the best AGP there will ever be(ATI 3850 HD AGP w/512 DDR3) and It's allowing me to run Freelancer at 1680x1050 widescreen format on my Acer X223w at full 60 FPS nearly non-stop.

op it is a fatal error but ill try the solution that has been posted
-
did not work.....will turning off only the advanced shader and turning legacy support work?

If we don't know EXACTLY what problem you encounter, then we cannot give you specific advice, which is why you have received only general advice.
Post the exact error message if you want more specific instructions.
I will say that the advanced shader should not be turned on by default. It is a well-known trouble-maker.

Fatal Error
Microsoft Freelancer did not detect a graphic card capable of 3D.Try rebooting your system you may need to install Freelancer.(it is not the exact one but this is what i remember)
