  • I ban Ajay cus you can't demand me anything, the only thing you can demand in life is demanding your ass to move off the chair and start doing something.

I though that the apocalyptic Earth situation, the last hope for human kind, the ship with the gifted alien technology, and a ton of space and sci-fi combat would be of your interest. Afterall, it's like a space opera visual of the best of your end-of-world songs mixed with Freelancer.

  • I ban Mike because both 115 song and Freelancer are good, but differently.
And what you said about was mixing Freelancer with a failure of actions described by 115, not with the song. Song supposes success in wiping everyone out, as implied by lyrics in final refrain:

    Quote

    And no one's alive
    BRING ME 1-1-5!!!

So, no reasons why I should know that serie? I shouldn't then :P

"Across the savage skies and through the fissures in the fields,
The rumble of the engines and the trundle of the wheels,
Through hell and horror trudge and yet their spirits never yield.
Will they sing of these forsaken pawns of war?"
-Miracle Of Sound, "Pawns of War".

  • I ban Mike because you have just triggered one of my favorite quotes...

    Quote

What is fun in making sense?

But if you want things to make sense... switching the topic.

As you reminded me of the Yamato battleship, you reminded me about Silent Hunter IV, thus an association link "Silent Hunter IV -> Silent hunter III" worked, which reminded me of this song:

Real life Yamato, however, was sunk by Allied air zerg rush, without even reaching carriers that deployed zergs. It wasn't even a sub that sunk the fatass, but an ordnance that hit the ammunition depot. There was 500 tons of explosives. 500 motherflakking tons.

  • I ban you cus you have to separate game story from real life story, even though some details may be similar.

Anyway, the Yamato was the last Japanese defence when the US were doing the final invasion attack, going with the last fleet they had, it was also a suicidal run, it was only given enough fuel for the go, nothing for the return. 11 US Carriers launched 400 planes against this ship, which was the entire US Air Force in the Pacific, as carriers are of the biggest things floating. Meanwhile those carriers also had SIX battleships (Massachusetts , Indiana , New Jersey , South Dakota , Wisconsin , and Missouri ) each one escorted by their set of full size cruisers and destroyers (30+ destroyers, the actual number isn't even told). A fleet of roughly 300 ships (counting smalle ships too) with an air force of 1000 planes (counting that each battleship formation had about 100 planes, and there were 6, + the 400 from the carrier formation) against the Yamato , 1 light cruiser and 8 destroyers. They didn't even had a serious cruiser, a LIGHT cruiser :D They also came with about 100 planes (like any battleship formation), used to do kamikaze attacks on the US ships, mainly ruining one of those extra expensive carriers, as well as a battleship and destroyer.

    Fun (black fun ?) facts:

    Quote

At 14:20, Yamato capsized completely and began to sink. At 14:23, she suddenly blew up with an explosion so large that it was reportedly heard and seen 200 km (110 nmi; 120 mi) away in Kagoshima and sent up a mushroom-shaped cloud almost 20,000 ft (6,100 m) into the air. Her large explosion downed several U.S planes observing her end. The explosion is believed to have occurred when the fires ignited by bomb hits reached the main magazines.

Boom bitches, the battleship that still got kills after it was upside down (capsized) and sinking. Those shells in the magazines could destroy targets at 40+ Km far though. It fell with style, and honor, the Captains didn't abandon the ship when it started capsizing. (Maybe they actually caused this explosion ? )

Suzutsuki—despite her bow being blown off—was able to make it to Sasebo, Japan, by steaming in reverse the entire way.

Really ? Avoided sunking for having the bow blown off, by going backwards at full speed ? Better than movies.
The bow is that lower part in front, usually the toughest.

  • I ban Mike because I was reading all that in Wikipedia, and still, there's nothing bad in going off with a bigass explosion. and while fighting...

With a 500 tons of bang it's even better :)

That ship steamed in reverse and survived? Wow.

  • I ban you cus, yes, all the way from the islands/sea back to Sasedo, Japan itself. The entire way on reverse. Others which were trying to go away got attacked...

  • I ban Mike 'cos I remember reading about a destroyer partaking in evacuating Sevastopol, which almost got sunk by Nazi bombers... It lost a steer (was maneuvering by engine), fired all its AA ammo when fighting off, and was saved by a command by sending couple of empty Pe-2 bombers. Pe-2s were mistaken for Pe-3 long-range fighters (and they were mistaken for Nazis by ship gunners which fired their last shells at them, cause no one hoped for fighter support) so Nazis called back the attack.
I don't remember the story exactly, but I do remember that fake fighter attack detail.

  • I ban you cus, lol, the Nazis though they got replaced by air attacks, and retreated ? (called back the attack)

  • I ban Mike cos Nazi thought these Pe-2s were Soviet fighters (they in fact weren't fighters, but dive bombers, but there were long-range fighters based on them) and called back the attack.
But gunners on attacked ship mistook friendly planes for Nazi ones.
EDIT: Found the article about the ship - destroyer leader "Taskent" - on ru wiki, english wiki says only about class and stuff in short: Tashkent-class destroyer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The fight I was talking about happened in 27 of June, 1942, ship steer got jammed right after first attack, she was slowly sinking and slowed down... But after planes appeared (BTW wiki doesn't says whether they were Pe-2 or Pe-3), attack stopped and then reinforcements arrived, towed it to the Novorossiysk and moored it.
On 2 July, it was sank right there by another air raid, right at the moor.

    BTW, that reminded me, tl;dr:

"Across the savage skies and through the fissures in the fields,
The rumble of the engines and the trundle of the wheels,
Through hell and horror trudge and yet their spirits never yield.

  • Banning ajay, coz i like all those stories... by you and by mike... anyway, mike Space BS Yamato really reminds me of Robotech (Macross), where, i got all of it, the series, the movies and so on... hehehe...

  • I ban Maishaf because I'm head deep in work, tests are inbound.
Wish to live is slowly fading away.

  • I ban you cus University, what you just started, is the best part of your life. Better than school, worse than anything that comes later, including the after 65yo part where you have no job but your body fails so much you're thinking that death isn't so bad, for real.

  • I ban Mike because with my way of living my body is going to start falling apart VERY soon. Good riddance though.

Yes, the university is the best part of my life, because no matter how things are, they can always get worse.

Anyway, I've made myself even more sad. but it's okay, turning on music to help my mood:

thinking that death isn't so bad, for real.

Only reason I haven't started to think so was music. First The Offspring, then Rammstein joined, then Sabaton. Must admit, some of your pony music too.

  • Banning Ajay coz i got nothing to say or complaint or whatsoever on this life thing. For me, i just enjoyed it since i'm in the verge of turning 40... well, people always say that life starts at 40... so, i want to know what's the difference anyway after living for 40 years on this planet earth...

  • I ban Maishaf because I dunno, I lived for 18 and I still don't see a reason behind any year, behind any month, behind any week... hell, I don't see a reason behind next motherflakking second. But it's okay for me as I don't care about reasons, I'm gonna live as it goes, no matter what is ahead.
P.S. I guess it's a little late, but Mike, thx for this song. I'm roaming YouTube for remixes of it.

  • I ban Mike 'cos the song ("Discord" one) is awesome and I don't like to lie.
Besides, Discord is kinda one of my fav characters, albeit he was insecure and puts his own amusement above his own safety (S02E01-02).
And why the flak NH stopped to post here?
BTW we had a hunt today in Jormdar, but he got downed, leaving me with four Savage fighters. Best part? I survived (going all "HOW DARE YOU?" on those aliens) and returned to Weth with everything I've got, so, NH, if you want, I can give you three W'ar-sys I've delivered.
If I used Redemption in that fight, I would've been downed too.Doubtful. Redemption has better strafing speed and firepower. However it has less armor and considerable less bots/bats.

And no, it isn't like school. In school, you are bullied non-stop, this gives you a reason to live - a thirst for vengeance. A wish to dance on the bullies' funerals. That was what was moving me to the end of the school, wish to see how hard those flakkers fail. Now, there is no reason at all.

  • I ban Maishaf 'cos if Anybis would also join, whatever aliens we would be hunting would be better to commit suicide.
We are, as one song says "always ahead and fed by their dread" there.
