  • Hello.

This is my first post. Thx you all for the time on this mod.. and sorry for my bad english.

The game crash after the red screen "Crossfire 1.7 new world".
There is the sound who is still running.

    I got a message error:
"Freelancer has encountered a problem and need to close..."

What i have done to install the game:

I have deleted every files from freelancer and mod manager.
    Defrag my HD.
And made a new install following the CF guide coming from this site.(DC Hagar)
everything works fine. I have the intro. I can watch them or skip them.
Then the red screen and then the message error.
I don't know what to do..
DC hagar spoke about removing all read-only attributes from the freelancer path.. but i don't know what is it or where to find them.. i don't even know if it will solve my problem.

I have already read many post with technical problem and i bother you with mine only because i don' t know what to do anymore.

    info about my Computer:

Intel Core Quad Q6600 2,4 Ghz
    4 Go Ram
    NVIDIA GEforce 8800 GTS
    Windows XP pro sp 2.

    Drivers are updated.

About the core Quad, i have try to disable 3 of my CPU in the CPU affinity. But it didn't work.

I have patch the game with the crossfire 1.7a patch, but it s still not working.

One more thing that DC hagar asked on another post.
Yes i have played freelancer and already played a mod without problem.
    (mod name: Discovery)

I hope someone gonna have an idea what is the problem and how to solve it.

I really want to try this mod.. and i d like to do that before the V1.8. Even if the new version is coming soon.

  • after u install normal Freelancer(mod not activate yet)
    follow this step:
    - go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games
    - then right click the freelancer folder and choose/click properties.
    - look at below where there is little box.
    - there is two box 1 is read-only and 1 is hidden.
    - click the read-only box to make the box empty(no right symbol)
    - then click apply and wait until it finish.
    - after that click ok.

also try turning off the 3d sound:

by the option in the game
    or
go to my document\my games\freelancer open PerfOptions and change "USE_3D_SOUNDS" to 0
    example: USE_3D_SOUNDS = 1.00 --> USE_3D_SOUNDS = 0.00
    then save and close.

    i hope it help... :D

  • Just an idea

seems there is a problem with the sound. Unfortunal you are not able to go to the options menu.

Try to do the following: in your \My Games\Freelancer Directory edit the File PerfOptions.ini and set this value: USE_3D_SOUNDS = 0.00 . Also have a look for exsiting Save Games and delete (or move) them from that directory.

edit: Uups, just saw its already answered...
