Hello all,
after having installed Freelancer, I started it and got following message:
A debugger was detected. Switch it off.
How can I find this debugger?
How is he to switch off?
Many thanks for your help!

huh? it's the first-time i've ever seen something like that ever
please check if you have any debuggers installed & running...
i have debugger installed for obvious reason and don't get this message...
Thank you for your replies.
Fact is that I did not install any debugger.
I played FL and some mods for a year. Some days ago I deleted all mods and FL too.
Then I installed FL completly new. And now starting the game only causes the message:debugger detected.switch it off.
I have no idea how I can detect a debugger. what can be its name?
I looked for running programs, but I can not identify any program as a debugger(task manager).
Where can I look else for running programs?
Blacky
task manager -> processes (not applications)
Maybe you have Visual studio installed and running the debugger.

guess what i do without problems (or no flhook or launcher development^^)
you can take this prog: http://www.microsoft.com/germa…ties/processexplorer.mspx to check to what process the message belongs. maybe so you can find out what debugger there is running...
could it be that your system is protected - and a debugger logs the activities...?
Thank you all,
1. Taskmanager: of course "processes" (magnet)
2. no visual studio installed or running (Orionsfather)
3. I will try the technetexplorer (Huor Su´rion)
I will tell you then more.

Hello,
no success with the technetexplorer and other similar programs. No debugger to identify. Its very strange, as there only 4 programs (cuttingprograms), the operatingsystem XP SP2 an FL .
Nothing else.
I dont spent any time of that now. I will format the starting HD hoping to forget this mysterious message.
Thank you for accompanying .

well, good luck
Hello all,
I found it:
the troublemaker is the ati-displaydriver! I installed the MSI R3650 MD 512. Then I deleted FL completely.
After installing FL new this mysterious message came up:debugger detected...
Without the displaydriver FL comes up, but does not run, as it needs a 3D driver!!!
I think this card is not able to use ist for FL!
I forgot this installation completely when looking for a debugger!
Thank you all for this discussion.

try using a different driver for it
well, that was my first idea and I was looking for a suitable driver this afternoon. But it is not easy, as the driver must handle hdmi too.
I had a short glance in the msi website. I think I will contact msi for that problem.
In the meantime I use another comp.
Later I will tell you what msi says..., if they something say!

what the hell has a display driver with debugger to do? Have you updated directx too?
Are you running vista?
"What the hell has a display driver with debugger to do? Have you updated directx too?
Are you running vista?" (Huor)
1. I am running directx 9c
2. Operatingsystem XP SP2
3. Only FL installed - no other programs
4. Graficcard MSI R 3650 MD 512 (ATI-Prozessor)
5. AMD 4400 Duo 2GB Memory

hm, sounds strange tho... have you any other tools running concurrently? Can you add a list of running processes and a screenshot.
I am really interested to see this - as i cant imagine what message is displayed and maybe what other processes may cause this..
Thanks for your kind support and patience.
It appears that this is a common issue with newer ATI Drivers see:- http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?p=1335304132
I used google with the keywords Ati+A debugger was detected
"It appears that this is a common issue with newer ATI Drivers see:- http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?p=1335304132 " (phileditin)
This threaddescribes exactly what happened to me. I gave it already to MSI.
Itried already older drivers, but all succesless, as this card needs a special structure for HDMI.
MSI proposed an answer in latest 5 days.
We will see...

well here I am with the result:
MSI told me, that ATI has the new driver 8.6 for that problem. I loaded this driver from the ATI-website... and all troubles are gone! FL runs very well.
Thats it.
Thanks for your contacts and tell it other people!
