It is really too bad that it went down the road it did. It was once a great site but even before Mircoshaft turned off the sever it was headed down hill, and I dont see it stopping anytime soon unless some major changes are done. I wont get into the changes as I still have friends that visit and like TLR and dont want to offend them or anyone else really.

every try to do changes is doomed
you only need to have a look at those which flood the tlr forum with negativity and claims about others
for sure they claim that mental is responsible for everything while this is not true
but they need someone to be guilty
and as soon those bigmouths get in charge of TLR the situation between the different FL communities will get worse

I offered my help to mental and to TLR but i got flamed and attacked for doing so.
I really think everyone who makes troubles and prevents development should be banned there so the community can heal again. That has nothing to do with different oppinions anymore. It is pure hate what these ppl spread over there.

The rejection of your offer of help by TLR was stupid, and I can't say that I understand why they did it. TLR needs all the help it can get. Perhaps it's ego; I still assert that your rather, ah, blunt way of stating things may be a bit... much, but it is sometimes called for. With people like Chips and w0dk4, you need to tread lightly, make sure you make a consistant and logical arguement that can't be torn down. And most of all, don't insult them. Some of the things that you say are true, but pointing them out does no good. Anyway, that's my thought on the matter. Is TLR dying? I wouldn't go that far. I'd say it's sick, and we need a cure, fast.

I have sat here over the past few weeks and have read many of the posts, some had valids points, and gripes. Some were just ego's and alot of the past no one can seem to let go But nothing has in any way been constructive or in anyway helpful, not even the few shout outs from the peanut gallery about professionalism. I do not feel I waste my time on the site or idea of TLR, just on reading senseless post's. I do apologize for the few posts I put up, and I should have dealt with torch privately. When I get a full blow layout of what is to come, I will post it hopefully in the next few days. I am messing around with some programming and software, as well as some ideas.

I am not going to post anymore, until I have something for the community.
It would just end up being white noise, and theres already enough of it.

I hope everyone will get over all the bs that has been going on here, and move on. If most of you feel that you are out of here, because of the flaming and bickering, I can understand.

I would like everyone to know that I do wish for TLR to continue and do appreciate all the help that has been offered, and for the ppl who have taken the time to talk to me, to find out whats been going on even though some blasted me for the way things are going. I know it wasn't directed at me but more at the site or staff in general. . . since I am the only one left, and ppl have moved on, I guess it comes down to me.

I am working on getting things going at another site because our site admin and I cannot communicate. If anyone here has anything constructive as far as suggestions and things they may like to have at the new site, please email me. I thought about putting up a thread but some have said that would be a bad idea as a lot of ideas would be thrown, then the bickering would start, so if you email them to me then there will be no insults flying or flaming.

I do appreciate Crazy hosting the site. It was very nice of him and many thanks go out. But our lack of communication brought this on, perhaps this is also partially my fault.

I do hope to see you all again,

I am also talking for two other national communities now that I wanted to introduce here since they never were aligned to TLR. But for sure I wont throw them into a community which such massive problems and flamewars. They deserve better.

I originally had a small gift for TLR... something i worked on in the past days. A fully working community portal with all the old TLR content (the stuff that was on the old TLR site). Looks like the expression "we are working on it" does not mean much to you. I guess the recycle bin is just good enough for it now.

Those which blame mental on what did happen... you did understand nothing. Mental was not even able to please your wishes. Others are to be blamed for it. He did his best to solve the problems but nobody here would have been able to do that. And you guys for sure didnt do any better than him.

the inactivity of so-called admins and moderators was really overwhelming that it is no surprise what happened with TLR
so stop being big mouths about how good you are and how good you would have done everything while the history shows the truth about your activity here

1) the TLR so-called admins made one-sided decisions for the entire FL community (w/o asking any1)
2) they block free speech and oppinions
3) lots of downtimes, other probs w/ website
4) willing-not-ness to listen to other ppl (especially regarding cloak and other stuff)
5) suck-ness of several admins.

It can't die because of its name but it won't heal itself either.

The only thing that can be done is watching the threads that are not infected by flame and help were ever it is possible while trying not to trigger the attention of the flamers.
Everyone that dissapeared without getting help when they needed it is lost for the fl community, Lancersreactor is still the place where lots of them will look for help first that's why we can't let it die.

The FL communities are seperated and if those guys keep going on like they did the situation will even get worse.

Well I started reading posts on TLR 2nd time since it went down via MicroShaft and was amazed at what was allowed and what went on there. Too much EGO as one person put it, and a lack of co-op to make anything positive happen. After reading the posts I feel that Mental as owner of site needs to just delete any post that has anyone being unkind as it looks awful for TLR to be in such a mess. It is out of control over there worse then I expected.

You are right OP TLR is just a name now. However, all us old TLR members who learned from TLR feel attached to it and is a sad day to see it go so far downhill. I went there when they first got it back after MicroShaft shut it down and noticed all the fighting then and decided not to be there back then and it seems that it just got worse not better. Too many Chiefs and no Indians.

I knew Swat-Portal when it first came out back years ago (won't say how many as it means I'm getting old fast) then it was Crossfire mod totally if I recall correctly. However it has done a great turn around and is now IMO trying to fill in/pick up where TLR left off years ago when TLR was TLR and is doing so very nicely.

Once OP gets done with the site I feel it well be better in several ways. So far the Freelancer forum is looking good and the Tutorial forum is getting larger as well. So if people could just accept that TLR was the Freelancer hub and move on and give Swat-Portal a chance to be that hub now then everything can get back to normal. I only notice a few that stir the pot that are against Swat-Portal and make several others rise up against well OP as well.

I remember back when I first noticed OP and yes he is straight forward and well at first thought he was an asshole, but a lot of that was from the attitude that some at TLR had of him and the way they treated him. I came to Swat-Portal pissed at him, but after seeing and reading about what was going on from his point of view then looking back on the forums at TLR I noticed it was not so much OP as it was others. If you all would give him a chance and open your eyes OP is a great guy willing to help you if you just ask him, he is trying very hard to make Freelancer stay alive and I think he is doing a great job along with those who are helping him with the site. I consider OP a friend now and have for many years. If I had a problem I ask him and guess what he answered very quickly and was very helpful as well. So forget the stuff you were told about him and get to know him then make youre opinion of him as you will see a different person if you just take a look and open your eyes. *Sorry OP if any of this offended you but thought I would let people know my side of the story about you and Swat-Portal.*

i know that it is not always easy to deal with me but that is often because i have to defend a point eventhough others dont understand why it is neccessary.

did you saw what's happening now? a category called "THE FIGHT CLUB". tell me, TLR turned into a flamewar zone, and the only path ahead is its death, unfortunately.
