  • Hi Folks

I had the pleasure of talking to Dop the other afternoon about EVE and Crossfire

We both agreed it would be nice to think about having a CF wing in EVE - but we are only at very early stages as both of us are still learning and we both have a long way to go.

I understand that paying for the monthly subscription will put a lot of people off - also the game is TOTALLY DIFFERENT - and even I sometimes miss the in your face - fast paced action and roleplay available in CF.

Nevertheless, it would be great if we could build a clan with the right team work that could help fellow CF members - and even all of its members - to play for free.

There is no trust in EVE - but I will assume the trust build in CF - even between the different roleplay factions - could be something used that can be used our advantage in EVE

Anyway just a thought - comments as you please -

  • I would play Eve if my computer would play it and if I would not have to pay a princely sum to play the game. :) ;)

    THE FASTEST ONE

  • like Az says we think it would be a great idea, but the subscriptions would put ppl off. between us we have already provided one guy with a 90 day game card for free, ive provided another guy a 30 day game card for free. a 30 day is around 180mil isk (isk=ingame money). a 90 day around 380mil isk.
im currently earning between 60 -100 mil isk a day now so would'nt mind helping out other players for free game time until they can earn enough to pay for themselves with thier own isk.
btw the first 14 days is totally free.

as for a corp/clan name i have one in mind - Crossfire Veterans :D

it would take time for us to get to a stage of setting up our own corp ingame due to real time learning of specific skills to be able to do so.

@super: you can play it, just dont download the premium graphics version.

@Az: maybe it would be advantageous to OP if i/we opted for eve-online moderators on the SWAT forum?

  • the idea of SWAT is working together and staying together even if we move to other games... so i for sure like this idea

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

  • Hi dop this is RECON,dont understand ( isk ) i know you have to subscibe to the game , can you earn ( isk ) in the game ? .

  • nice idea...

but let me request something: does this mean if you earn money i game you can use this to pay the montly fee? That part i didnt totally understand...

  • Yes you can...
Usually it`s enough to pay the real-cash fee only once & you can make enough cash to get a 30-day pass for ISK. If you don`t and are bit short of ISK - you can allways ask someone to give you a loan. Or buy a game pass for you entirely, until you can stand up onyour own feet.

Assumption is the mother of all fuckups.

Being a Cynic isn't that bad. Either I'm right or I am pleasantly surprised.

  • 1. You can make in game cash called ISK - to buy an extension to your game - so you do not pay real cash

Extensions can be 30 days to even 90 days

    2. Based on my own experience - I think you would be real talented/ lucky/ player to avoid paying the first 1-2 payments after the free 2 week has expired

    3. I was thinking maybe Crossfire players on EVE can help new CF players to EVE and train/advise/help players through this. The idea is to support players until they can stand on their own feet and pay for the subscription themselves through their own in game activities

    4. There could be an idea to develop a SWAT Academy on EVE for new CF players blah blah

    5. Working and playing together is better than playing alone - unless you are a trader like me :-)

    6. EVE is not CF and there will be no pvp!!!

  • played it
    stopped playing
but it wasnt a bad game
still have a 30 days account left
might try it again when i have much more time
forum posts with a inovative visual style are much more creative

  • same as me - i like the graphics.
so i installed the demo - with free trial, played the tutorial, didnt finished the tutorial as it was too complicated for my understanding, finished after 4 hours playing and lost free trial period^^

For now i dont want to play it - but still love the graphics and design ;)

  • Hmm since I got fed up with trying to get CF to work online (still no luck) I tried and installed EVE (works flawlessly from the 1st time -- didn't even need to configure the firewall) and I really like it (except the fact that you have to pay for it.. I've never ever paid for a piece of software, but I read that you can actually pay w/ the ISK). So I guess I'll subscribe to it after my 14-day trial ends.
If you wanna find me, search for Mr FastLane. :)

  • Hey shipmates - I will bump this

I have seen Dop, Laser and Magnet join forces and even an old persona non grata - Presidential Candidate Ruivo make an appearance.

Flash and Minnie Mouse with some other German speaking mates are online - so those members of the community with German sprechen speciality may want to hook up with them.

Some rumours that other former and existing CF members are around - but I have not been able to hook up with them.

Dop's getting some good experience on mission running and pvp, Laser's on the Mining and I do some trading and mission running.

If you are interested - come and see us online.

  • Hello guys, long time without talking to you. Well, My first impressions on EVE were written in the first thread on this forum (EVE for GANKERS) I did change my mind eventhough Im not a die hard of EVE. I ve been real busy in real life that I dont have time to play online. I have an account on EVE that just cost me $19 the first month more plus another $19 for 1 year. Well, EVE bill system made a mistake when I was buying the account for 1 year and instead of charge the whole year that would be around $14 monthly with the discount, it just charged me $19 (amount for 1 month paid) for the whole year. However I do not use a lot the account and a friend of mind over there told me that EVE got me bored because Im asocial and I didnt get any corp as regular yet. SO this is my advice to you guys about what kind of game is eve:

1.- EVE is an strategic game
2.- CHose your profession wisely and tried to develop your skills in one direction since a JACK of ALL TRADES doesnt work well in EVE. This means that if you are going to be a PVP, you have different roles in PVPs so choose your trainning skill oriented to the roles you want. If you going to be a miner just be a miner, as well if you are going to be a trader, POS, and so on. Just keep your role.
3.- EVE is one of the most expensive online games, that means that rates goes from around $14 to up $19 depending on your time subscriptions
4.- Using isk to buy TIME CARDS is not an easy task, you have to produce at least $150 million is up to $200 million monthly to buy your time card each month
5.- Patience is real important in EVE and indeed you have to be smart enough to choose your roles, pick your fights and so on

EVE is HUGE in skill trainning, Universe, ships, equipment, and commodities. Ive never saw a game that huge online plus the Economy in EVE is one of the best in the online gaming.

Anyway, I login from time to time and my account name is Roparz Greek so if you are in and see me in dont hesitate to call me.

Anyway, lately I have only 4 only games in my computer: Guild Wars (play almost never) Anachy online (almost never play) Silkroad (rarely play) and EVE (casual player) Finally, I am really waiting for JumpGate Revolution to break free cause for sure I will be heaven more active there ;)

    Best regar to you all,

    RG

PS: BTW, if I see old buddies form CF in EVE for sure I will be more active and even join a corp with them (Ill be more social :D )

    [4] Don't argue, [3] Just do it

  • ..I almost forgot to ask, it would be nice to write your EVE names here so we know who to contact in game :D If you dont like the idea, just pm you EVE name so I can get a hold of you online

Hey Hawk - good advice mate = thanks for that.

You are right - it takes a lot of patience :-)

Specialising is key - it means you get where you want faster - Jack of All trades is probably impossible - or even will take you years - but remember have fun - that is main thing - try and specialise in something you enjoy doing.

Dop and I are committed in trying to help CF mates to the position of using in game cash to buy Time Cards and play for free.

From my own experience - I reckon I have only paid for the first 2 months subscription and since then I have been playing for free - using ingame cash - and I am paid up to end of August.

And if I can do it - :-) any other soul in CF can :-)
