  • In game please!

I really like the random dynamic trade, I think it could push full time traders to try other ways of making credits and change the RP a lot. Especially if we dont know when sol run is going to be next etc and will be nice to see smugglers and pierats work for the routes and test the cops too :)

  • How would the sign board know who is an ally or a foe 8o?( [3] [2]

  • Well SUPER....if the sign can detect bullshit, you will be the first to go.

I prefer to earn my way through the game, so my vote is for in-game clues etc.

Why the hell you do not shut up and keep your stupid thoughts to yourself. [1] [5] [3] [2]

What I asked is a serious question as there would be freelancers in small ships also entering clan systems and if a powerful gun would hit them at the gate, they are dead. :(

    THE FASTEST ONE

  • It's alright Super, to answer your question, what OP means is that whenever a person enters a clan system the sign in that system gives an audio cue no matter who the player is. It wouldn't have a weapon and couldn't kill the visitor, just merely alert them to the fact that they are now in clan space.

On other servers, what the modder often does is gives each clan an NPC faction. Each clan member must be placed in this faction and then the reps are hacked so that other NPC factions (including clans) are fairly adjusted for RP. The purpose of this is because clan systems in these mods will have extensive weapon platforms or strong NPCs that kill any intruders within moments of arrival. Anyone not allied or neutral to the clan whose space is being entered gets killed, essentially by the server. Many of these servers also grant custom bases, ships, and weapons tailored to each clan's preferences. Sometimes this is paid for with a monthly fee of in-game credits. Perhaps I am wrong, but this represents one of two schools of thought regarding FL clan space.

The other is the one employed here. Instead of NPCs defending clan space and having the admin hack everyone's reps, the responsibility of system defense is left up to the clan members themselves. Also, the system contents do not get special treatment or tweaks when a clan moves in. While the other way of doing things promotes defense autonomy to free up clan-members from defense duties and promotes clan supremacy over FLs, ours promotes player responsibility and more parity in ship and loadout options. This makes clan systems easier to do RP with and explore for outsiders, as well as maintains a healthy presence of both clan members and uncommited freelancers. The best part, of course, is that a clan here doesn't have to give the admin a billion credits a month to keep their system.

Obviously there are pros and cons either way, but I suppose I am now explaining things beyond the frame of the question. ;)

I would like that actually^^. Other than placing bountys there is basicly nothing you can do with $ on the server. Would be a good thing for the smuggler clans aswell.

  • True, but on the flip-side on the servers I mention a billion can be made in two days. If that were in effect here I would be able to keep SoS for three months and then UAC would be dumpster-diving and selling our organs for pocket change. :P

These credits are also paid to keep custom features - features which I wouldn't mind having here but would be somewhat unrealistic for CF. When OP is the modder and admin it's sure asking a lot for him to be doing everything he's doing right now plus keep tabs on our credit payments plus make sure that we have the custom equipment and ships we want at the stations we specifically asked for. Lol, that 800 messages he posted a screen of from his inbox would prolly double overnight. xD

Also, the most important thing to keep in mind is that these servers that ask for game money don't require clans to pay RL money - paying system rent for them is part of the RP, not necessity. Here we've got hardware and a hard-working modder who needs us to keep CF from sinking too deep into red ink. It wouldn't make sense to deny someone a clan system if they are paying hard cash, but perhaps it would be reasonable to have something special set aside (ship, equipment, gun, something) that costs a billion credits, or changes made to clansystems in exchange for a little something extra.

Omg, I'm starting another pointless discussion topic. I think I might start to shed scales. Lol, forget I said any of this. We don't need to talk this to death like we did the missiles and char cap! :P

  • well, if u have money op would require for such a modification, i don't think he would mind, giving he has enough time 4 that. it can easily be made a per basis rule, and eventually it could go into effect quite nicely.

rl money will mean a great deal to both op and server needs.

    maybe he'll consider it once.

I can assist you in the right direction and format to "donate" to the Event Managers fund..:D

I am also looking for Investors for my new SiriusBucks coffee shops Galaxy wide. Let my secretary know when you can make an appointment to our "financial" office.

  • the event managers fund is allready happy whenever i come by ^^.
I am not into supporting megalomanic franchise organisations. Oh.. wait.. are we talking about that special contrabant coffee from earth? Im on it! lol

  • Does the coffee have a faction affiliation - is it neutral maybe? If this coffee wants to support the Houses and the monopolies instead of being warm, good, and wholesome for the common folks, it will need to be shot until it falls out of its containers, rounded up, and then sent off to a forced labor camp. Bad coffee must be replaced with good coffee - coffee that shares more common values... preferably as a goal in a five-year plan! :D

Beware the taint of Siriusbucks - their cups have built in tracking devices and that little logo with the cop in it can actually watch you and relay video and audio feed back to Tarsus... *turns cup so that it can't see him* 8o

Sounds like a good reason for making it harder to amass a fortune in the next update. I think one of the rationales for the last update and even the dynamic economy was to make it harder to Billionise yourself - but there are many fat cats on the server now.

It took a while for people to properly cotton on to the Calif/SOS pay off = but once it kicked into the part and parcel of everyday life on the server it never stopped.

In the early days of DU there was the well known NL to LEEDS route which was used a lot until OP adjusted it -

In the Vanilla game the 1k+ routes involve travelling from Rhein TO Kusari or even furter on some routes - maybe some changes back in that direction would be good?

Also we know money is almost become meaningless when handsome pirates have 400mill and 500mill bounties placed on their heads. WTF is that all about?

I am all in favour of declaring anyone caught carrying Coffee in their hold as a police sympathiser and liable for extreme levels of taxable income.

  • Simba: lol, I won't go down the long list of reasons why that the SSRs weren't good role-models, but sure... no harm in having a group doing unlawful things for revolutionary reasons instead of simply being criminal rabble! I see many vanilla factions that fit into this category - people keep refering to it as... "Rogue"? At any rate, I like it so far so I'm running with it. As for the lines of Bulgarian, I have no idea what it says I'm afraid. If you want though I'll find some vodka and kazakhi with the fur hats, and we can all dance to Kalinka and some of those patriotic marches churned out in the late 1940's. [rofl]

    @Trade-gimping + monthly credit rent:

I'm sorry for raising this. Maybe these discussions shouldn't be taking place. Lol, OP works hard for us as it is - he sacrifices a lot. Shouting "gimme gimme" about getting new features in every other thread is a terrible way to show gratefulness, so why don't we jot down these ideas, and only present them in the proper threads and only when OP wants us to give him ideas? This discussion is good, don't get me wrong, but this thread is getting spammed a lot when it shouldn't. :P

  • Lol, I should have known. What's it been now btw? Ninety years this week? Anyway, I suppose the part that confused me is I didn't see seven or so stanzas. Hehehe, I've edited out though the rambling I did at the time of this post because I eneded up talking about anthems I like - which just goes to show how quickly I can digress and end up spamming a thread. :P

    So...

Back onto subject now. Op, though we all want to see the big features in-game, any chance of a few new screenies from time to time to reflect your stunning acheivements? My definition of "spoiler" entails a lot more than most I would suspect. To be honest I wouldn't at all mind seeing a couple of the things and then lauding you for it. Works well for morale both ways. :D
