Can u explain it to me what the fluct means and could it cause probs (make me laggy) if i have fluct 1 or 2 or 3?
And what is more important to have 0, loss or fluct?
thanks

the fluct value shown by the "/ping" command is the average between current ping and last ping over a time interval...
the ping value shown in that command is the average value over that same time period.
fluct is mainly showing if ur connection is kind of stable in ping and has no times with high ping followed by times of low ping.
to have no loss is definitely more important than to have less fluct..
When I played I had 1 loss and something like 2 fluct, is that good?
loss = not good
to make it a simple formula^^
So you have 0 loss? Is 1 really bad? lol
I'll log on again tonight and see what I get. I think I had one loss last time, but I don't remember, it was weeks ago.
fluct is the difference between two ping values
Example:
1st second ping = 60
2nd second ping = 64
fluct for this time range is 4...
loss means you have packet loss, that means the transmission of packages lasts longer than normal. Due to CF uses a UDP connection (like almost every MP game) there is no failure correction by this protocol. Lost packages are lost and remains lost if the sender does not send them once more again -> you can see this when a player jumps very heavy in game
The TCP/IP protocol has in internal failure correction algorithm. So packets loss is reduced but TCP/IP isnt very common for MP games (dunno if its impossible..)
Conclusion:
loss = bad
to have fluct is nothing strange and may happen due to normal udp package transmission
Ok thank you guys very much
tcp/ip was used very often by old games
it also explains why games such as starlancer never had real lag problems even when most of the players at that time had a very crappy connection
I remember playing SL with my brother on co-op missions...... good times
Even if I had this cheap wireless keyboard that had a 1 second delay on every key I pressed
Fluct problems i have allways found down to be caused by spyware....i have told many people that experience lag due to Fluct to do a spyware scan...Canoso and Laserjet had this problem recently i sent Laser a spyware program and he found 136 casses of spyware on his computer so to all of those that do have fluct problem run your spyware programs (If you dont have one speak to me) and that should solve that problem for you.

yep, just what i said. the "/ping" command computes the average over a period of time
when it comes to fluctations, they dnt really mean much, but it is better to have a smaller value, like 0, ofc.
sp can use fluct value to consider u a rules breaker, because fluct can indicate u r running a p2p or other dl/up heavy application while playing cf, which is forbidden.
about a packet losses, well, if one is not living in some crappy parts of world (w/ bad internet infrastructure) losses should b 0. or at least not more than 2. but it can happen from time to time that u get packet loss, as to very next moment connection fixes itself.
if u r living in a crappy parts of world (or a really distant ones from germany - where server is), u may have packet losses greater than acceptable. this will mean u cannot have a decent pvp in game, and that some ppl could see u as if u had a teleport device (and there is none in fl), jumping from points to points on map. also, every server dependant action (like dock, jg/jh, lanes) could get seriously lagged.
i come from a very crappy country, so i do experience packet losses, and while it happens i mostly only chat docked at the plt somewhere, or i make trade runs, with no pvps. i found that cf server can accept up to 30 packet losses and still b able to consider a connection stable one (not breaking, so u have to log on all over again). but i suggest that anyone with connection in 10+ packet losses turns cf out and gets back l8r, when there is less trafic in region's internet infrastructure (mornings, night, afternoons).
i hope this helps anyone.
u must be a relative of Supercars...
So I take this is why I used to die in PvP when the opponent was seemingly out of sensor range several minutes after the shooting was done (yes, getting the new modem and phone line fixed this)?
Normal -> Ping: 215, Loss: 0, Fluct: 4
Laggy --> Ping: 3104, Loss: 95, Fluct: 145
Hmm... maybe the ping was 100 or so less than that - can't remember that number for sure, but the trouble is there's a point where the lag keeps screenshots from saving.

kermit, i find that offending. u should know better.

yup, that was it.
well, fl does show u have a bad connection by blinking both a yellow (not so bad) and a red (quite bad) connection signs.
sorry m8
never saw it green blinking - the color at my pc is yellow
yup - it blinks yellow/red.
Goodone, when was the last time u checked ur eyes (no offence )
lol, sorry, my bad. will edit it.
i do have a color syndrome... dnt really know how it's called in english, but i didn't make the mistake because of it. i was just thinking about something else and wrote green instead of yellow.
ppl make mistakes. i am no different. what does count is one's intention.
true.
Maybe u could contact ur iSP - maybe that can solve the problem.
