the plans to shut down the global server do not harm CF server at all. the launcher does bypass it anyway...

it does change the way to connect to any server... (more progs like the launcher to be needed for other servers)

Well i heard that a lot of servers will stop running, when the global server being shut down. Thats a oppertunity for CF, cuz the ppl will search for other servers, where they can play

its the usual 5 year support of MS games

unfortunatly not many ppl did listen
and actually it will lead to many servers closing and no new users finding FL servers any longer

be4 cryin out loud and get in panic, listen 2 me:

1. Without Masterlistserver no Newbies will come or even v few
2. There more then enough guys who dont know how 2 direct connect 2 a server

So this would mean, that it is a great hit against the Freelancer community

But I know that DFLS Serveradmin Crazy has rebuild the Listserver and has tested it, it works fine, but he need the DNS in the Freelancer.ini, because there FL connecting 2. but he said that he has som contacts and maybe he is able 2 get the DNS, so listserver would be saved

anyway, much mod's allready integrate a direct conection in the mod itself.

honestly i see no reason to do that
maybe when i see a proof of that i would reconsider it
but i must admit since crazy tried to tell me that htlm code in asp tags have to be in "" and that i should have done that in that way for the LR page (while this is not even possible coz it is an ASP tag) and since ive seen the crap on LR these days i lost my trust in his abilities

FL2 is quite off the map, we all know that never will happen.
what we can do though is continue trying to get support for FL

FL2...naah, it will be like the petition for the Global server, i hope that many players will sing it :]

can u tell me something about the whole idea? how do u plan to bypass global server? anything...?

i know what hamachi is and how it works (i am using logmein's products as a computer professional), so u can get deep into the theory.

there r many possibilities, i agree, but ppl mostly find out about servers from the server listing. and this is how community gets new players.

so, if we r not going to get microsoft sell the dns entry for the global server, and i guess that isn't so much a possible outcome, what would b other solution? make a patch for the ini hosts setting and advertise it as much as possible online? and who will pay such a hosting...? it might help, but still a bunch of newbies will not b able to figure it out.

it's a solution, ofc, but how about others? r there any?
