it is planned to become a part of the next setup. so it was ment to not become too big in size...

no offense here, just collecting ideas: what do u have in mind as to be missing there for a new player on how to get it going to get on the server? (as u offered help with the flash part u might have some great idea missing here?)

Well, like a detailed solution for a specific problem. Like this:

Please choose:

1. What is CF?
--- the story, the introduction
2. How to install it correctly
--- short, precize and easily understandable instructions (not the crazy stuff Hagar gives to everyone - the many edits of edits of edits should drive PPL nuts! You do all that stuff and THEN find out it's supposed to be done differently!)
3. I have a problem
--- like below
4. And so on...

If user preses the 3rd choice, he would have this:

1. I can't install Crossfire
--- Try downloading again (download link), blah blah blah
2. I can't activate Crossfire
--- Get the FLMM 1.31 (download link) NOT 1.4, the correct activation procedure blah blah blah
3. I get a launcher error code

--- Solution
5. CTD on using jumpgates/holes
--- Disable the 3D sound
6. Can't launch MP
--- Check the firewall (detailed step-by-step walktrough for most popular firewalls ("select your firewall") and the necessary things to change in settings if your FW isn't listed, list of ports FL uses

And since most PPL are stupid, the proper instalation/activation has to be written more than once - In problems/solutions part AND in Proper activation part AND everywhere else possible

the current flash book (http://www.swat-portal.de/crossfire/CFguide.swf) already includes an edited "crazy stuff" list done by me^^ - just read it, please

This is really nice... I guess I should've taken a closer look not just clicked "Windows vista" and seen nothing really helpful there But this still bugs me: Even without a firewall and with same editions of Vista, some PPL can go MP (Like pcforce who has everything running perfectly), some can only go SP (like me and lots of others who get the "can't establish connection" message), but some can't even launch FL. Damn you, M$, damn you...

Still - great work, hagar. But how about those detailed (maybe even illustrated) instructions for FW's (many PPL just don't know how to open ports in FW's)? Those would be cool and really helpul...

And the download links should be actual links (to the .exes not only the pages - and then the searching, the searching...)...

If I had the .fla, I could do all that...

May I suggest something for "Windows Vista" part:

- keep your windows up to date
- keep your video drivers up to date

Vista is verry sensitive for both; thats how i solve my problems before ...

Well, first of all, the Windows Firewall. Then maybe:
- Kaspersky Internet Security (6/7)
- Zone Alarm (Free/Pro)
- Norton
(add some coz I don't know others since I use KIS7)

this certainly is true to some point...

but then what would it end if providing the service to help with any firewall in a tutorial? dont there exist tutorials for just that already somewhere? and they need to be maintained a lot, because new software will come to be included, new versions, ...

i would rather like to concentrate on things that r to be found nowhere else, because they r bound to the Crossfire mod. maybe if u can do a compilation of related links with help for firewall configurations this can be placed into the book?

this is the reason why i stop helping, when the person is unable to do basic pc stuff like file handling....
