It looks like fans of older games may have a lot to look forward to from EA next year. The company recently released its prepared remarks for investors following the release of its quarterly financial results, some of which held some hints at what fans can expect from 2020 and beyond. Some of these upcoming offerings will be new IPs, while others will apparently be “fan favorite” remasters.

EA’s Blake Jorgensen spoke at length about what can be expected from the company next year, revealing that the plan is to “add at least one more sports title to our annual slate” and that it has “two new unannounced EA Partners titles coming from third-party developers.” Jorgensen also revealed that the plan is to “deliver some exciting remasters of fan favorites, including the Command and Conquer game we’ve already disclosed.”

EA has for the most part been hesitant to delve into remaster territory, which makes

    Deathsnake

has expanded on the last few recent updates to the

    Last Line of Defense

project with a new video. This one features three of his prime capships in formation with the cruiser launching a mixed squadron of fighters. It can be kind of hard to distinguish the Venture in the foreground against the Exeter behind it, so we’d recommend you blow the video up large when you take a look. It makes it easier to see the cool fighters launch too!

It is a lot of work to launch several fighters, but it could be possible to launch 16 fighters from the 2 tubes. Imagine 3 Tolmacs launching fighters - 48 fighters = 48 Scripted Events. :D

I'm not limited to Rapiers. Tarawa's loadout is a mix of Ferrets, Rapier and Sabre possible. WC1 Loadout - Hornet, Scimitar, Rapier. The big playes - Raptor and Broadsword not possible. F-44 Rapier A dont' work - wings too big. :/ So here's a WC1 Group: Exeter, Venture and a

When Colonel Blair is first introduced to 2nd Lt. Mitchell "Vaquero" Lopez in the Orsini series of Wing Commander III, Vaquero is strumming a guitar and explains that guitars are an important part of his history: "But my family, they made guitars for many generations. I’ve got one that’s almost two hundred years old. The sound just keeps getting richer... Someday I’m going to open a cantina and bring in the best to play that guitar. A place for old fighter jocks like you and me."

There's just one thing odd about this: while Vaquero may have a guitar that dates back to the middle of the 25th century stored safely at home the one he's happily playing in the lounge is over seven hundred years old! The guitar used as a prop in the game is a Gibson SG Junior Cherry from the 1960s. The Gibson SG Junior is a solid-bodied electric guitar intended as a lower cost alternative to the Gibson SG. If you're

Wing Commander IV didn't have a manual with ship stats so fans had to figure them out via trial and error. The turrets on the Vesuvius heavy carrier all fired yellow so for at least a decade it was assumed they were Anti-Matter Guns because those were the yellow turrets in WC3...

vesuvius_heavylasers1t.jpgExcept a cutscene seemed to have a small error: it identified them as laser turrets. But lasers are red and the film shoot happened long before the actual game was set up and balanced so it made sense that this was just a lil mistake.

vesuvius_heavylasers2t.jpgSome years later, someone figured out that there aren't Anti-Matter Guns anywhere in WC4. In fact, they're specifically removed from ships that once had them... and the Vesuvius yellow guns don't hit like AMGs anyway. So: they're Heavy Photon Guns which are yellow on fighters?

Now flash forward and our top nerds have reverse engineered the game itself and we find that they were supposed to be...

Rear Admiral Tarsus has posted a handful of really neat YouTube clips to share the latest goings on with the Gemini Sector WC RPG. The gang is having tons of fun role playing on Discord, and they're welcoming new players now! One unique aspect of the Gemini RPG is that they try to blend in clever artistic elements to spice up the game. While the action predominantly plays out over text chat, they've animated these briefing sequences to provide a compelling visual. You can check out the whole playlist here! Also don't miss their website for more background on the game or their Discord to meet the group.

Hey all, I just finished hosting the Xytani module of the Discord based Wing Commander RPG. The group was great, it was missing a certain player... the one reading this message at the moment. Hope to have you on our six. Heaven knows my character needs all the help she can get. ;)

The vision of the future of Star Trek is one of cooperation between governments and species of different beliefs, homeworlds, and upbringings. That cooperation evolves in the world of Star Trek Online with the Khitomer Alliance – the first formal exploration and defense cooperation pact between the Federation, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Republic, and the Dominion. The Alliance was formalized for defense, against the Iconians and then the Hur'q, but the hope for all involved is that it will lead to lasting peace. To celebrate this, and as a thank you for spending your time with us during this long quarantine, Star Trek Online is giving away the formal uniform of the Khitomer Alliance and a brand new vanity shield, to deck your ships in their colors. We hope this allows the players that wish to be a part of the Alliance to feel more like their characters are a part of this brand new movement

Imperial senator Simone Leatrix has announced plans for a week of revelry at her palatial residence on Capitol in the Achenar system.

    The senator told the media:

"We Imperials value the finer things, even during times of political upset. So I intend to celebrate the end of the year with a sumptuous party at my mountaintop retreat, which will be specially renovated for the occasion."

To feed the hundreds of high-profile guests and decorate the senator's residence, Senator Leatrix has asked the Cemiess Imperial Society to organise deliveries of food and newly refined jewels to Mackenzie Relay in the Cemiess system.

The initiatives begin on the 20th of December 3304 and will run for one week. If either initiative meets its targets earlier than planned, that campaign will end immediately.

    Here's a neat Privateer 2 preview that

    Pix

recently found. It's from the September 1995 edition of PC Home. This was just before the game officially became a Privateer title, but the article draws the connection that The Darkening's existence owes itself to Wing Commander 3 & 4's live video success. There's also an interesting Q&A with Clive Owen - plus some cool set pictures. Check out Owen & Jürgen Prochnow leaning against a tongue!

As part of our new Age of Discovery update, we’ve chosen to work on updating our story experience, with a special focus on some of our oldest missions. Our new content from Victory is Life, Age of Discovery and other recent updates has brought us fantastic environments and distinctively different content, and we want to bring up the quality of our older material to match! The first thing we’ve done is rework the flow of the mission journal. Instead of making every mission part of the story, we’ve decided to focus the story on the principal narrative arcs of the struggles of the various Galactic powers in the four quadrants. Some of our older “side” missions are no longer in the journal proper – you can still find these missions in the galaxy at large, but they’re not part of the directed journal experience. We’ve taken out the “Wasteland,” “Spectres,” “Breen Invasion,”

    Adm_Maverick

has posted a status update for his scratch-built

    papercraft

Tallahassee model. He showed off a few images to demonstrate what he's done lately, and this includes a nice resizing up to a significantly larger scale model. The blueprints for his new design are displayed right next to his previous generation cruiser. We can't wait to see the larger results! He's also previously used different color materials to show contrast during the construction phase, which are clearly very different than any scheme we'd ever seen in game, but I kind of like the funky colors. There's some potential for some very creative artistic license there!

    maverick_papercraft39t.jpgmaverick_papercraft40t.jpg

So what am I doing? Well, I'm sort of starting over... kind of. As I mentioned previously I lost the file that had all the notes for scaling so I couldn't finish the last version of the model I was working on. Well, I decided to take the first steps and go big

Senator Caspian Leopold has announced that his appeal for commodities, in association with Niflhel Corp, has been enthusiastically received by the galactic community. Hundreds of pilots supported the initiative by delivering commodities to Biruni Port, and by protecting traders in the Niflhel system.

A spokesperson for Senator Leopold made the following statement:

"Thanks to the work of many brave pilots, we can now begin construction of a rehabilitation centre that will keep innocent families safe from the ravages of war. Senator Leopold hopes that this is just the beginning, and that through further acts of philanthropy he might help spread peace throughout the galaxy."

Pilots who contributed to the initiative can now collect their rewards from Biruni Port in the Niflhel system.
