With the launch of the Discovery Legends Reputation, we want to make sure Captains have a wide variety of content in which to earn progress towards their new items. With that in mind, starting with the launch of Rise of Discovery on May 14th, you’ll receive Discovery Marks from the returning Task Force Operations Pahvo Dissension, Peril over Pahvo, and Operation Riposte. The Defense of Starbase One will also be joining this reputation, switching over to grant a choice of Discovery Marks or Fleet Marks on completion. The Advanced and Elite versions of these TFOs will grant P.stellaviatori Spores as well. This means the reputation will be launching with four Task Force Operations that you can use to advance in it, and gain the technology and powers of the characters of Star Trek: Discovery. Enjoy, Captains. .share-footer a { margin: 20px 10px 10px 0; background: url(

You’ll get to experience the events that brought them both to the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery, and you’ll get to be a part of the story alongside them. The perennially asinine world of insurance commercials has a new Wing Commander tie-in. A new Progressive ad titled "Rebel - Birthday" presents a snarky conversation involving a middle aged man living in his parents' home. The

    directors

helped set the scene with a copy of Wing Commander on the shelf. It's between the wooden ship and baseballs. Rather than catering to some type of video game stereotype, hopefully they were just big fans of the game themselves! The 'Wing' was apparently taped over to reduce the risk of setting off any copyright sirens. A 1080p download is available from the Vimeo link below for anyone who wants a closer look. Thanks to

    doctorcdcs

for spotting this! He initially saw it air on Hulu.

Segnen Exchange has revealed plans to build an outpost in the Synuefe EN-H d11-96 system.

CEO Cedrik Stone gave the following statement:

"As Zende Partners has graciously provided a transport service to Guardian space, it makes sense for my company to support the increased pilot activity in that area. Segnen Exchange can offer a variety of services to those travelling to the area."

"Segnen Exchange thrives at the forefront of innovation, and the wealth of artefacts soon to flow through Synuefe EN-H d11-96 offers fantastic opportunities in the field of advanced Guardian-human technology."

The announcement, coming so soon after Zende Partners established The Prospect in the same system, has received a mixed response from business analysts. Some view the move as likely to trigger direct conflict between the two corporations, while others believe the presence of both companies can only benefit the

There's a nice new update to the

    WC1 Sprite Refresh

project. A lot of work has been done this year on the process for using Blender to create WC1-style sprite models. This should be broadly compatible with different versions of the software, and look for an update soon. Also to whet the appetite of fans anxious for more delicious goodness in the WC1 engine, Goliath has imported a test Piranha. It looks fantastic in the conversion to low-res. We're super impressed with the results!

I owe some long overdue thanks to the CIC and to Wing Commander fans for their consideration of this "sprite refresh" project for the 2018 Fan Project of the Year. Also, I'd like to give an especially huge thank you to my colleagues Howard Day and UnnamedCharacter for their work as their contributions were crucial in getting the results we did. There are so many neat fan projects out there and it is especially cool to

A journal maintained by Gan Romero, the technician responsible for stealing a docked vessel from a starport hangar, has been discovered.

Security Chief Misaki Sanders gave this statement from Fort Dixon:

"We have thoroughly investigated Romero's background to establish a motive for the theft and how it was accomplished. Our only lead is a series of encrypted voice logs that he deleted shortly before the hijack."

"Our analysts have recovered a few fragments of these recordings, which appear to have been part of a dream journal. In them, Romero makes repeated mention of seeing 'an area of space, not black but radiant…glowing like heaven,' and being called by 'voices that didn't come from anything with a body'."

"Medical experts have proposed that Romero's recordings, along with his recent distracted behaviour, may be symptoms of an undiagnosed dissociative disorder. If true, Romero was likely

Up tonight is a fantastic piece of art by

. This one features a pair of Morningstars zooming away from the Concordia or another Confederation class dreadnought set against a colorful backdrop. Although the final results almost look like a painting, the scene was 3D rendered with

It's been quite a while since we regularly

    covered new space sims

as they were introduced, but the industry has still been hard at work putting them together. We're going to try to get back into sharing interesting ones that we come across now and then, which leads us to

. The game generates random universes, allows for lots of ship customization and is centered around a big single player story. A ship is outfitted with a variety of systems and multiple crew members, and characters are at risk of permadeath based on the decisions you make. Perhaps most importantly, combat looks pretty neat! Check it out below or find it on
