While popping in to explain what's going on with the watches in the Wing Commander Movie, Jordan Reeve also shared some fantastic photos from the film set in Luxembourg. He got a chance to visit during the making of the movie, which included some fantastic up-close encounters with the Rapiers and Kilrathi. There's a lot of envious folks in #Wingnut right now!

Most memorable.. being 7 years old and “flying” the Rapiers.. totally imaginary of course but to a 7yo it’s pretty powerful! My father made that film with Chris, together they could have made an incredible movie but there were too many other cooks in that kitchen..! I used to have a load of stuff, props and clothing from set.. no idea where they are now but I still have fond memories of walking up and down the flight deck!

Several Imperial senators have spoken in support of isolationist group Nova Imperium.

Senator Pal Vespasian made the following statement:

"Many of us see Nova Imperium not as extremists, but as realists. The citizenry is afraid of both Thargoid invasion and of being weakened by collaboration with foreign systems. They look to the Emperor for salvation…and she offers them none."

"We intend to invite Imperator Mordanticus to address the Senate and detail his policies. This is a historic opportunity to restore the Empire's honour and integrity."

"Furthermore, Nova Imperium's proposal to install a new Emperor has my full backing."

Segnen Exchange has revealed plans to build an outpost in the Synuefe EN-H d11-96 system.

CEO Cedrik Stone gave the following statement:

"As Zende Partners has graciously provided a transport service to Guardian space, it makes sense for my company to support the increased pilot activity in that area. Segnen Exchange can offer a variety of services to those travelling to the area."

"Segnen Exchange thrives at the forefront of innovation, and the wealth of artefacts soon to flow through Synuefe EN-H d11-96 offers fantastic opportunities in the field of advanced Guardian-human technology."

The announcement, coming so soon after Zende Partners established The Prospect in the same system, has received a mixed response from business analysts. Some view the move as likely to trigger direct conflict between the two corporations, while others believe the presence of both companies can only benefit the

Kotaku recently reported on a massive leak of Sega documents from the 1990s. One interesting bit for me: Sega's release calendar lists a Saturn port of Wing Commander IV for October '96. I don't believe that was ever announced (or otherwise leaked).

sega_leak1t.jpgA Saturn port of Wing Commander III, not mentioned here, WAS announced and was supposedly shown in some capacity at the first E3 in 1995. Little else is known!

sega_leak2t.jpgThe leaked documents also have Sega's internal estimated release dates for the Playstation ports of WC3 and 4. They're just a month off for 3 (February vs. March '96) but way off for 4 (September '96 vs May '97). It's unlikely that a Saturn port could've shipped in October '96!

Segasaturn-nat.jpgYou can download the document leak directly from Sega Retro here (61 meg PDF).

Destro has taken the wraps off an absolutely fantastic mod to add the voiceovers from the Sega CD version of Wing Commander back into the original! Lots of fans have talked about doing such a thing over the years, but it's simply mind blowing to see it in action here. If you're impatient, jump to the 2:00 mark to hear the speech in action. This isn't intended to just be a voice-enabled video of the game (that project already exists), rather, Destro is working on creating a patch that supplements the game to make this work as you play. There's still lots of work to be done before this is ready for distribution, but it's a very promising start! You can find more information on how this works and what's planned next at the CIC Forums here.

Hey all! I've been working on this for a few weeks now, sifting through the memory of Wing Commander 1 to try and find a way to insert the voice overs from the

In keeping with our more positive vibe this week, here's a heartfelt video of the multi-talented Chris Mulkey singing "High on Love" and talking about his various talents, hobbies and motivations. He shares exactly how he got into acting, which is a good story. We might know him as the hard nosed pilot Hawk in Wing Commander 4 & Prophecy, but in real life he's a great singer and really funny too. The clip is ultimately an ode to his late wife with interview clips of his daughters interspersed throughout for further context. Enjoy!

Science fiction is known for showcasing futuristic means of communication, but LOAF was recently going through footage from Wing Commander 4 and wondered, "What's going on here?" There's all kinds of screens shown off from interactive surfaces to floating holograms to old school '90s CRTs. They all sort of fit in context, but there's certainly some odd variety!

If you don't know by now, NightBall06 is a big Hellcat fan. He's done a number of computer assisted sketches this year, and here's another with some new additions. There's some detailed side-by-side with the original source image that gives you a clear sense of what the inspiration was, how close things are and where there's some slight artistic license. Based on the popular theory that the Confed Wildcat and Hellcat share a common lineage, he's based a few aspects on this "updated vintage" methodology. There's also a cool top/bottom plan view that's reminiscent of some of the Tiger's Claw original ship drawings.

I think this one belongs here too... A sideview/topview comparison that helped me to remain on course... It contains some minor updates (I also updated the image from before) especially at the rear engine part and the „little nose scanner“.
