I've seen mods where this is altered. It has to do with the way the server runs and operates, and also what you're looking at. If you check out Nightstalker's Universe, I believe the maximum range of scanning someone's cargo if you have the best scanner is something like 15k, while you can pick up other players from up to 100 in group.

Um, yes he can. Spiky is the active leader of BG on the server, and Custodian is their system. If he says you can't go in then that gives BG and their allies the right to remove you from Custodian by force if necessary.

Just have Steam launch the launcher in Freelancer.exe in the EXE directory of your Crossfire directory. Works fine.
