I have to agree with Slayer Lucy and Michael. The rules that are in place have been around for several years, since the beginning of CF, and we never had any problems like this until recently. The rules are, imo, good. As its the SP that are the rule enforcers it should be up to them to decide weather someone is breaking a rule, and how to punish them based on the rule broken, and how it was broken. (For example, the no suicide rule. If someone suicides during PVP, then a SP can for example ban them for a day. But if someone accidentally suicides because of, say, lag and didnt see the planet till it was too late, then there shouldnt be any punishments because it was an accident.)
And as lucy said, I dont want to have to read 19 pages of rules before being able to have fun. As long as I know what I can and cant do, thats fine, I wont do what I cant do because its against the rules, and I know there will be punishments, and thats all that matters.

The reason most games are still made with DX 9 is because the majority of computers still run windows XP because most people dont want to switch to a newer OS. XP works perfect for some people, and those that made the mistake of installing windows Vista, and had it break on them so they went back to XP are kind of nervous of windows 7 because it still uses the same kernel coding that vista uses. Maybe in a year or so when windows 7 has all of its bugs fixed, more people will move to it and companies can start designing much better games.
On a side note, there is actually a game that uses DX 11, called Shattered Horizon. It wont be out for awhile but from what ive seen and read, it looks awesome.

Trust me, even if you set the ports and override the rule permissions, it still wont work because of the way Vista is set up, Ive tried before awhile back and was never able to connect despite the fact that the server showed up. Its something to do with the kernel software that Vista is based off of. The only way to get it to work properly is to completely remove Norton, and replace it with something like AVG, Avast, or Avira. If you do manage to get it to work with Norton still working, I'll be highly surprised.
As Spiky said, it will probably be best to try the windows 7 RC since its a million times better then Vista, and on a plus side the RTM release will be out on the 22nd of this month!.
*Cant wait*P.S. I just looked up Acer's account, and it seems as though he hasnt been on the forum since 2006, and as far as I can tell, there is no contact info of any kind.

A further restore point might help, but restoring to an older point doesnt always return certain settings back to the way they were, and you'll actually end up causing more harm to your harddrive due to file corruption if you restore too far back (I made that mistake once, and still regret doing it)

DUDE! GIVE ME THOSE COORDINATES!!! Jimmy stole 450,000 bottles of whiskey from Planet Blood and never returned them! You have no idea how badly the stock market fell when those got stolen, its been over a month and the entire planet is still in debt....I WANT THAT WHISKEY BACK!!

Norton sucks, I used to use it and had some major problems with ALL of my online games. I would suggest you get rid of it *Completely* and replace it with either Avast free, or Avira Antivir (Both are good imo) and SUPERantispyware (Yes the name seems lame, but its legit and works great, I actually completely replaced Spybot search and destroy with it) If you absolutely must have a firewall I would probably go with the free version of Comodo, Ive heard its a really good firewall to use, but I dont know for sure since I dont use firewalls.

What I would try doing is uninstall it completely, go through and remove all files related to FL and run a file/registry cleaner tool from a program such as Ccleaner (Website here: http://www.speedtest.net/) or some other file/registry cleaner if you already have one you use.

Count me in, its the least I can do since I have a hard time getting ingame (Which I hope will soon be fixed)

Hm, not too bad, the music is pretty good...but what does that have to do with anime? Lol
-
Yes, but it will attract the wrong kinds of people, we want players that will play the game, not jack off to it, lol.

Its the freelancer.exe that runs crossfire single and multiplayer.

Chances are if you have a firewall installed, its blocking some of the files from changing. Some firewalls mistake a few of the files to be Trojans and prevents them from loading the way they need to. If you do have a firewall, try disabling, and stopping all the firewall processes, then activate CF again.

Count me in. Im as active as my internet possibly lets me be, both on forums and ingame.
-
Yeah, at least here in America it does, lol. Right now im very very stressed for money, so I am unable to so much as afford a loaf of bread, let alone a computer program...

Also the chat link that was on the old site isnt in the new one, its that chat function that allows me and my friend to get to the BG meetings. I cant use mIRC or IRC because they cost money, plus my computer always seems to have problems with them anytime I try and use them. If you could put that chat feature back up, it would be greatly appreciated.

I believe it expires in June, but the RTM will be out long before then. Ive been running the RC for about a week now and I can guarantee that it is much much better then any of the beta's when it comes to speed and reliability.
