Try using Download Accelerator plus. I was having issues like that at first due to my internet timing out before it finished, but the DAP has a resume function that lets it start from where it left off in the case of an internet crash/disconnect.

Ok, well I got some interesting information. A friend of mine irl has an XP computer with an Intel Celeron 2.8 gig CPU with 1.7 gigs of ram, and a 128 meg ATI Radeon 9200 TV Tuner Video card, and his game runs perfect with all advanced options and everything turned on, and compatibility mode disabled.

I love the blue/red hud, it looks awesome imo.

Im going to try the advanced graphics with windows XP to see if it works. If it does, then it could possibly be an OS conflict between the drivers and the OS, since windows XP, Vista, and 7 handle the driver architecture differently.

[Edit] My video card has shader model 4.0 and a 1.5 GHz bus speed (PCI Express) and has turbo cache so that it runs at a faster speed based on my ram, and since I have 3 gigs of ram, thats 512 Megs Video power on XP, and 1.5 gigs on Win7. So im pretty sure my video card can support the advanced graphics, but maybe the windows 7 drivers have issues with it, lol

Maybe theres a minor bug in the advanced graphics settings? I know my video card can support the advanced graphics, because its a really fast card, but I'll untick it when I get to reinstall it again just to see. I just finished reinstalling windows XP to see if maybe its an OS issue with the video card drivers or something.

I just got ingame, and when I left Manhattan I got a CTD, and now every time I load it up, right before it gets all the way ingame (Like, a few seconds after I select my character) it CTD's on me.

P.S. I have 3D sound disabled, and I tried turning the graphics all the way down, but I dont think its a graphics issue since I have a 1.5 Gig video card, a 2.2 gig AMD Athlon x64 3500+ CPU and 3 gigs of ram. As well as running windows 7 with the UAC off, and no firewalls or anything to block any access.

It all turns out white for me too, however if you click on the box area that you make your selection, it shows a drop down box with all the things you can select from, just choose one.

I doubt anyone has successfully gotten 1.8 to work yet. I think OP has removed the the download that he put up do to some missing files and whatnot, so when he puts it back up, he will let us know, then we can start downloading it.

I'll do what I can to be there. I cant guarantee that I'll remember, but I will try.

Now that those trouble causing members are gone (Hopefully) maybe us remaining members that actually wish to help keep CF going can finally start getting things done the way its supposed to be.

Anywho, I propose at least for a start, that BG gets its military status back if you know what I mean, (We can keep our police RP and everything of course) but I would really love to get our military based RP back as well, and I know of at least one or more other members that wish the same thing. If BG can get back to the way it was a few years ago when me and Falcon (If anyone still remembers him) was recruited, im sure that BG will make a comeback. As will many other clans that have started to fall apart because of all these ordeals.

Another thing I propose is that everyone that still has the ability to do so, get ingame and start really trying to have fun, and bring the activity level up again so those that are still active can also have more of a reason to get on, and have fun. When/If I can earn enough credits, I will also help Spiky and Michael with events and whatnot, provided I can ever actually get on with a decent ping.

Yes, lets just completely restart from scratch, that will solve everything...for what, 2 months or so? Then all the problems arise yet again.

We need to resolve all the problems and issues we have, both ingame and on the forums, otherwise weather we start from scratch again or not, the problems will just keep occuring. Once everything is resolved and we can get the community and its people back on track and getting along, then we can talk about the character wipe, and the release of 1.8. (Provided we have our problems resolved by January 1st)

@ Salomoa, Agreed, time to get back on topic. @ Everyone else, Ok so its agreed that we all need to separate RL from RP, so instead of spending a page and a half talking about it, maybe we should all just start doing it and move on to the other problems at hand.

Agreed, its time we start taking steps to make this a better place, and prove that this mod is the best! Lets show OP that he's not the only one that keeps this place running, and do everything we can to make sure this mod, and community comes out on top. Its time for all those clan hatreds and hostilities to end, and come together the way its meant to be.

The reason I was mentioning that nomad thing is because I was thinking that, irl most times cops go after all the bad trouble maker people, but in some cases cops work with some of those trouble makers (Thieves, druggies, homeless people, ect ect) in order to put away a more troublesome target that cause far more problems. It doesnt happen often, but I have seen it happen with my own eyes, and in my experience it does make the town a better place overall. Thats what we need to achieve.

I usually spend most of my time playing Runes of Magic, Dragon Age: Origins (My favorite of all games so far) as well as C&C 3 tiberium wars, and Kanes wrath, C&C Red alert 3, and Dead Space.

I totally cant wait till March when C&C 4 Tiberium Twilight comes out.

Its good to see at least one post thats all about fixing our current problems. I totally agree that sometimes its good to temporarily remove RP and work together, or have friendly PVP that has nothing to do with cops and pirates RP.

An idea I have to hopefully ease the tensions between pirates and cops is to have team oriented fights against nomads in places like Outer dyson sphere or FP7, without it actually being a contest or anything, but just for fun. But dont make it to where teams can only be pirates, and cops, but mix and match them so that pirates and cops have to work together.

Try right clicking on the exe and Run as Administrator. Also make sure his internet is working (Open a browser and see if it loads the homepage) if it does and running as admin doesnt work, then have him try restarting his computer. Other then that im not sure what else to try.

Sorry Saxon the people here cant pay tax to you today because we are discussing a way to fix the problems at hand (And I agree with Pipe, we need to just get out in space and play and have fun) therefor nobody has the time or money to pay tax to you since all our taxes are going towards fixing our other problems.

Well im not exactly saying that your decisions are irrational, or bad, in fact I personally agree with every decision youve made, I probably would have done the same thing myself if I was in your shoes. Im just stating that for those people who might think that you are making bad, irrational decisions.

On top of that Elixer, and anyone else who wants to talk shit, and complain that OP isnt doing his job. OP spends practically his life savings, and more so in order to keep this server going, and to do everything he can to make it better and bigger, and how do people repay him? You all treat him like crap for supposedly not doing his part, and taking longer and complaining about the problems in Swat and the community. I dont see you other people (Except the modders and clan leaders of course. Thank you all for the support you do give. ^^) spending most of your money just to keep this place alive. No one has the right to tell OP when to release the mod, or how to handle the community, he is pretty much the mayor of CF and has every right to do what he does, even if its irrational. Are all his decisions good ones? Maybe not, but its something we all have to deal with and try to find solutions for. When he feels that the mod is complete, and that the community deserves it, he will release it, but not until then so why doesnt everyone just shut up and be patient and work on the other important tasks at hand such as bringing this community back together like it once was when I first joined CF 4 or so years ago.
