Today a friend of mine had an interesting question ( which could be badass in my opinion as well ) - Is there a way to play the singleplayer campaign in cooperative mode?

I am asking you SWAT_OP-R8R - is there a way to do this? Or can it be implemented?

Greetings mate!

I saw that layout when I used ALT + TAB to check some other stuff while playing, and sometimes the game came back with the similar layout you are seeing. Try and press ALT + TAB several times, at some point it should fix itself. Hope this helps!

Edit: Restarting the game can also fix this issue as far as I remember.

Windows 10 keeps Directplay disabled by default
With shaders, i stick with vanilla ones, still beautiful, and with the other shaders, i cannot see the intro videos, just saying

Hey there Ray!

Make sure to install Freelancer Mod Manager first, but do not run it directly after install.
Then install CF mod ( during the install, it usually finds the Mod Manager's "mods" folder, if not then tell it where it is ), then let it install ( usually 5-10 minutes depending on configuration ).
After CF has been installed, launch the Mod Manager, you should see Crossfire mod in the "available mods", click on it, adjust the settings to your preference, then install. It will look like that the Mod Manager hangs, but it actually works, give some time for it.
After the CF activation is successful, try to launch CF mod from your desktop ( if you let the program create the shortcut for you, if not then search the launcher )
The first launch will take some time ( the launcher needs to update ), then everything should go smoothly. If not, refer to Crossfire launch error codes ( there is a post for it on the forum ) or feel free to ask for any further advice

Fear nothing, I found my copy of Freelancer ( unmodified & repacked version for Windows 7 ) which still works ( I always used this copy to play CF in the past )....no cracks needed

Installed CF back again, OP's workaround worked for me, deleted the launcher.ini, now everything works, just logged in

To all who use Windows 10 like me: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DIRECTPLAY ENABLED !!!

If OP allows me, then I can make a way to share my copy of the game for everyone who needs an easy to install & working version

Yes, those jumpholes are purposely bugged ( as far as i know / i remember ), you just need some luck to get into the system you need
PS: I played CF about a year ago, my information could be incorrect.

Yes, reinstall Crossfire properly, then select the Vanilla Shader, it will work

The Custodian gate will appear in NY System when you finish the original campaign ( beating the nomads, and ending back in NY )
After that, CF campaign will start.

The CF campaign has much tougher enemies than the original game offers, i highly suggest you to get a VHF ( you can get the Griffin for example very early on the original campaign - when you are escaping from Liberty, and the Lane Hackers come to your aid - there is one time you can land on Mactan Base - you can get the Griffin there, almost the same as the Black Eagle or the normal Eagle, but a bit better in my opinion - as far as i remember, you need around 10 Million credits for that ship, and equipment - check Detroit Munitions in NY )

As for the money: You can do missions in Texas system, or in Oasis in the beginning ( Oasis can be very hard for you right now ) after mission 2 ends. Get some money, and you will be all good.

My thoughts are the following:

Try to relog after the server reset happens, see if you can log back in...it could be weird because we are nowhere near close to the server restart today as far as i know...best practice to empty your cargo and do not try to sell or trade anything close to the time when the server restarts

Also, check if your original game and Crossfire are properly installed ( @SWAT_OP-R8R can help with that if you ask him to check the server log ) - if not, try to reinstall Freelancer and Crossfire, and see if it helps

EDIT: If it is a simple ban for unkown reason, a GR can unban you
