    Thanks denne & Wanderer;

    I appreciate your quick replies. I just found this thread; soulfroge train which explains some of what you indicated but it's not as detailed as your posts. Based on your advice though, I think I'll buy the Soulforge; but given it's size and limited maneuverability I think I will seek out most of its additional equipment (armor, power, weapons) before I buy it.

    Cudos to you both, MM

    I am interested in stepping up to a train. I am leaning toward a Scouser because I tend to work alone and, if I'm reading the wiki right, I'm not limited by to using containers. The Scouser appears shorter and less segmented than a train in the wiki. I've seen a battleship have a hard time navigating a debris field, thus I can imagine how stuck I could be trying to navigate a train through one. I have two questions.

    1. The wiki indicates that there are only containers for raw elements, metals and compounds such as zinc, iridium and titanium leading me to think I would be limited to those trades. Can you load, transport and offload cargo such as diamonds, engine components or carmine using containers? The way the wiki reads, there Is no such a thing as an empty container.

    2. The wiki says the Soulforge train has cargo space of 2500 units and can equip up to six containers, each being 400 units in capacity. Does that mean the 2500 units are separate from the containers; so I could conceivably load 2500 units of cardamine and six containers of zinc for a total of 4,900 units of combined cargo?

    Many thanks, MM

    Thank you Ajay and Wanderer for your timely replies;

    I have only one character associated with my account/ID; that is Mesachie_Man. Thank you Wanderer for unbanning me. I have checked out to the Tools-> Bugtracker page, and will report all future bans there. I will also remain cognizant of future ion storms and do my best to be offline before they strike. Do server resets occur at the same time each day? And if they do can someone tell what time that is. It would be easier for me to remember not to play at a certain time.

    Many thanks, MM

    Greetings;

    I've been playing on the 24/7 SWAT Crossfire Roleplay server without encountering any problems since I fixed my Panda anti-virus issue a couple weeks ago. This morning and this afternoon I played without incident, then I stopped for dinner. After dinner I noticed that the dynamic marketplace had effected a change in the goods offered for sale. I bought some VIP's and it's when I was leaving Freeport 2 the game crashed. I reloaded my character and it crashed again at the same spot. I tried restarting the Crossfire game, I tried restarting my PC, and it still crashed. The message suggested leaving it a while so I played the single player for a couple hours and tried to connect to the 24/7 server again. That's when I noticed the captionally noted message. Perhaps of note, is that this message was displayed after trying to connect to the server, not loading my character (which I believe comes after connecting to the server).

    So if anyone knows what is happening to generate this message, please share it. And if you know it, what "account" is the message referring to I'd be interested in understanding that too. :sos:

    Many thanks MM

    Martind Forlan; Your advice was excellent, though I didn't end up with the Saracen. I backtracked all the way back to Coalition space in my Saber (without any bots) hoping I wouldn't run into any lingering Dom'Kavash or Nomads. Once there I bought a Saracen and a Basilisk and tested each against my Coalition Saber. In the end I liked my Saber most. It has less cargo space than the Saracen but more batteries. Plus, once I started heading back to Tonga I to took a quick trip over to Sol and picked up a Class 10 armor upgrade for insurance. The rest of the mission was simple. Many thanks, MM

    Many many thanks Martind Forlan. Every failure was another wasted hour of game play. I will follow your advice and do a bit of shopping Vorkuta and Sol before I start over. I had two of the Gatling guns and a pair of project weapons but as you suggest, I need to lead less and follow more to make it to the end. Germes, are you paying attention to this?

    Много много спасибо Martind Форлан. Каждая неудача была другая напрасный час игры. Я буду следовать вашим советам и сделать несколько покупок в Воркуте и Сол, прежде чем я начать все сначала. У меня было два из пушки Гатлинга и парой проектов оружия, но, как вы предлагаете, мне нужно привести все меньше и следовать больше, чтобы сделать его до конца. Germes, вы обращать внимание на это?

    So ya, I waited this time; well, actually I fled the scene, trying to preserve the few bots and batteries I had. My escort did their job and we got through jump hole only to replay the same game over again in yet another Dom Kavash system. This one is called Tonga and the twist seems to be that when we get to the destination jump hole and take care of the gunboat trailing us, a second gunboat comes in on an opposing vector to finish me off.

    So the question I have (and couldn't find a walk through in the wiki); how many systems are there after Tonga before this mission ends? I'm afraid I might have to start over again with another ship.

    Chapter 7, Mission 27 I think; New Worlds, Mira Ceti system for sure; For the second time in a row I've arrived at the jump hole, press F3 to dock, my ship stops and the jump hole goes white while I wait (normal). Then Juni says there's an incoming hostile and I can't break my ship free. The jump hole stops working and get to watch Juni and the others are flying around while I can't move. None of my movement keys have any effect; not escape, nothing. Of course I'm the only one taking fire from the enemy so I get to watch helplessly as my ship explodes again. Next time I won't dock when the computer tells me to. I'll stay back with Juni. Juni's smart. I'll wait until after that last Dom Kavash is down, then I'll try docking. MM

    Hi Germes;

    I died too but the second time I made it without firing a shot. When you exit the jump gate you will see the Coalition ships are far away. Juni tells you to attack them but she stays at the gate. Juni is smart. Be like Juni. If you attack the Coalition ships you will be too far away when Juni tells you to come back to the jump gate and escape. So when she tells you to attack the Coalition ships, don't go. Juni doesn't go. Juni is smart. Be like Juni. Stay with Juni at the gate and wait. When she tells you to go the gate and escape, link with the gate and leave. I bet you the gate is so slow that you will still be shot at and have to reset your shields before you can escape. Then the story continues...

    Я тоже умер, но во второй раз я сделал это без единого выстрела. При выходе из прыжковых ворот вы увидите корабли коалиции далеко. Juni говорит вам, чтобы напасть на них, но она остается в воротах. Juni умна. Будь как Juni. Если вы атакуете корабли коалиции вы будете слишком далеко, когда Juni говорит вам, чтобы вернуться к воротам прыгать и бежать. Так что, когда она говорит вам, чтобы атаковать корабли коалиции, не идут. Juni не идет. Juni умна. Будь как Juni. Пребывание с Juni у ворот и ждать. Когда она говорит вам, чтобы идти в ворота и убежать, связать с воротами и уйти. Я держал пари, вам ворота настолько медленно, что вы все равно будете обстреляли и должны сбросить ваши щиты, прежде чем вы можете избежать. Тогда история продолжается ...

    Thanks for your post Germes, and thanks for your insights Ajay. I will soon be there in a Rapier. It is outfitted with an advanced class 10 Brigandine shield, shield upgrade MK-X, an advanced Hydroxin thruster and power generator MK-IV. I'll soon see if it is enough. MM

    Спасибо за Ваше сообщение Гермеса, и спасибо за ваши идеи Аджай. Я скоро будет там в рапирой. Он оснащен передовой класс 10 Brigandine щит, щит обновления MK-X, продвинутый Hydroxin подруливающее устройство и мощность генератора МК-IV. Я скоро увидим, если она достаточно. М.М.

    Well, I made it through the race course in the Cavalier LF. I tried it again in a Crusader HF and then the BullpupMk3 but bombed on both. I settled on advancing the game with the Cavalier. I made my way back to the Custodian system only to find that my associations with the Outcasts, Junkers, GC's and Blood Dragons made it damn near impossible to get out. I bought a BullpupMk3, a Titan, a Sabre and a Black Eagle; and could only escape Custodian with the Black Eagle. So now I'm in Kusari space with the Black Eagle, riding in style.

    Thanks to all for your counsel and sharing your experiences with me. MM

    Thank you Martind Forlan and LordRaydenMK;

    The Sabre has been my ship of choice for many years, as a matter of fact I was flying one in MP until later last night when I traded it in for a freighter. Once I beat Hovis with the LF (to know how), I will try a HF and then the ships I would prefer to fight in, such as the Sabre and the Bullpup. Thanks guys.

    What great responses; LordRaydenMK, SilverFox, Martind Forlan and RingoTwin thank you for contributing;

    Well, I fought my way to Ainu Station in Hokkaido, picked up a pair of advanced Hydroxin thrusters, fought my way back and (Martind is correct) they made no appreciable difference. I wasn't aware of our ability to "pause" our cruise engines. I will have to try that, especially for those back to back gates. I tried it without weight reduction, without guns and with different thrusters; all to no avail. I traded in my beloved Bullpup MkIII for a Crusader HF but in truth; they felt the same. Then I got a Cavalier LF and my luck changed a bit. However, I seem to be just that little bit off, that caused me not to miss gates so much as hit them. I spent over an hour yesterday on the track and the best I could do was once losing to Hovis when I was on his bumper, and twice leading Hovis is the back stretch only to be fast forwarded to "you loose" cut scene. I don't know what happened there. After 70 minutes on the course, my wife let me know I was swearing loudly and often so I gave it a rest and worked MP for a bit. (Much more relaxing)

    SilverFox, thank you for the link and race strategy. I will review the combat guides and have printed your advice. I shall endeavour to practice what you preach until I prevail. If only I could kill Hovis afterward, that would be very satisfying.

    Cudos to all, MM

    Thank you very much Ringotwin, Martind Forlan, DeepSilver and OrdRaydenMK, for replying so quickly. I really appreciate it. And Martind, I found the vid very helpful. I think what I'd do next is see if I can make it to Hokkaido and back with a pair of advanced Hydroxin thrusters (if they exist in the SP game) and try it again. Failing that I'll take your advice Martind and advance one of my saved games with a vanilla ship. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and opinions.

    Cheers, MM

    The other day I posted a request for information regarding "sliding" as referred to in another thread as a solution for getting through Hovis' track with a freighter. It seems to have been eaten by binary gremlins. I don't know whether the practice of "sliding" is a cheat or not, so presuming it is not, could someone please explain it to me? I have a Bullpup Mark 3 and my vanilla thrusters don't seem to be up to the task.

    Many thanks, MM

    Cudos to SilverFox for the FAQ link to reinstalling Crossfire, and to Martind Forlan for suggesting I look at Norton Antivirus issues (the very next entry in the FAQ). Thank you both very much. I will look into both today.
    Martind, I'm not particularly glued to using Panda. If you know of an A/V that works really well with Crossfire, please let me know. I did get to play for a couple (4) hours last night, so that was nice but then my connection was dropped.

    Cheers, MM

    Greetings all;

    I've been playing Crossfire 2.0. It's my first time playing Freelancer with a mod and I must admit I'm enjoying it. Well, that was until I raced Hovis. I've lost 4 times so far. I'm using a freighter and finding the cruise too fast to make the corners and the afterburner too short burning to remain competitive with Hovis. I read a thread suggesting that racing with a freighter was easy but for the life of me, I don't see how that can be.

    A previous thread on the subject referred to "sliding" a ship and using the afterburner to provide thrust but "sliding" wasn't explained. Can anyone explain to me how to slide? Or is there a work around for guys using freighters?

    I suppose if I must, I can sell my freighter and buy something lighter but I've grown rather attached to it since almost all the NPC factions want to kill me.

    Please share your thoughts,
    MM
