    At last a new patch that would change some interesting things in JumpGate:

    Home stretch


    I'm pleased to finally be able to say that work on patch 1.0109 is in its final phase. The patch will be feature-complete within a few more man-hours of work. Thereafter, I expect to spend a period of one or more weeks solely debugging and resolving issues found during testing and regression testing before being able to release the patch.


    Attempts have been made to address several concerns brought up by the community regarding the content of this patch. However, I am acutely aware that because our small community remains quite diverse (as well as outspoken) it will be impossible to satisfy all parties.


    I certainly knew when undertaking this project that the patch cycle would have to suffer some delays to get the work done. I did not expect to go more than five months without patching, and for that I apologize to the community. The good news is that, although we still have a "Phase II" patch yet to come after this, its content is extremely unlikely to take as long as the "Phase I" material has. I'll be commencing work on Phase II immediately after 1.0109 is released, because I consider some of the Phase II features critical for long-term value of the entire package of changes.


    Here is a preview of some of the main features being implemented in 1.0109 (Phase I):


    - Military flight registry for factionalist PvP
    - Seven mission types specifically for military pilots
    - Factionalization of insurance; free coverage for Military and Rookie pilots
    - Full implementation of factional conflict states
    - Conflict states affect kill penalties, particularly against other Military targets
    - No kill stat gain for downing Civs anymore, ever
    - ENEMY radar mode to display hostile faction Military pilots
    - F1 chat becomes semi-global; dependent on beacons
    - Military Intel map tool for Military Optis; dependent on beacons and pilots flying Recon missions (new type)
    - Shield rebalancing [included when I thought I was going to get this done in 2-3 months -GM_Istvan]
    - Bomber ship class revisions


    That's only the big-ticket items on the list of changes. I'll be drafting quite a lot of information for JOSSH in the days just before and after this patch is taken Live, which (taking testing into account), I hope to do as rapidly as possible.


    I hope the wait will have been worth it.

    Who will benefit for that..this will mark NQ, Colours, and CF itself and it will end with people leaving everywhere to some place where people can play in peace...Even it put a big black mark on people in Phoenix and other many server mod. At the end everyone will lose...

    CF Server have backup all chars from last 24hrs so if it because of the glitch that is happening on every server in the freelancer community, you char will be reinstated. Which bring me to the next point, why is this happening on all Freelancer servers, how chars may disappear from ones account suddenly???

    [SIZE=3]Lag [/SIZE] , from "lag behind", is a slang term for slow Internet speeds or Internet latency; Lag is sometimes due to a server problem, but more frequently due to the connection between client and server. A slow or intermittent connection may often be referred to as laggy.

    A lagger or laggot (occasionally, High Ping Bastard (HPB), High Ping Whiner (HPW), Lag Fag, Paper Modem or Panda Lagger) is someone who uses a relatively slow 56 kbit/s modem to connect to the Internet, then joins a multiplayer online game and who therefore has a high ping time. In synchronous games, where all clients must know the exact game state, a single "lagger" will slow down the game for everyone, since the server has to wait for the client to get every communication packet. However, many online games use an asynchronous communication model, allowing the clients to continue even if they drop occasional packets. A high-pinger who does not inhibit the overall performance, just his own, is sometimes known as a High Ping Bait.


    It should also be noted that a few players using 56k modems intentionally disrupted their outbound data traffic in order to induce a "warp" effect. When this happens, their location in the game world is only intermittenly updated, causing them to jump across the screen at unpredictable intervals and becoming impossible to hit. This was once a common form of cheating, hence the terms, Lag Cheater, and Lag Armor. This has largely been overcome in modern games by effectively reversing how the networking code functions. On old games, the target's computer informs the shooter whether or not he has been hit. This resulted in having to lead a target, a practice known as Lag Shooting. In modern games, the shooter's computer determines whether the shot has hit or not, and tells the target (What You See is What You Get). A player attempting this cheat now is only rendering himself High Ping Bait.


    Low Ping Bastard or LPB is a phrase that originated during the time when Quake was a highly popular multiplayer online first-person shooter. The term came into common usage when broadband Internet connections first came into the reach of home users and were competing with people limited to a 56 kbit/s or slower modem connection. This term was so widely used because of the havoc wreaked upon the other users of these servers by the LPBs due to their overwhelming advantage in reaction time afforded by their connection.


    Additionally, the term chop also denotes a laggy or lagged connection. This term was coined during the Quake series of first person shooters as a player could run a command to see a graphical output of their connection superimposed on the in-game screen. During times of poor connectivity, the graph would look like a saw-tooth or ocean waves; hence the term 'chop'. It also refers to the choppy movement a severe lagger sees in these games due to intermittent update of game data.


    A 56ker or 56k demon is a slang term for a person using a 56 kb modem connection. These connections are considered to be slow compared to modern broadband connections and generally result in lewd complaints from other higher bandwidth participants in the game or channel. On many game servers, having such a connection is grounds for immediate banning, spawncamping, or teamkilling. This practice is commonly referred to as Smear the Queer.


    Lagtard and fisher price comp also come into play when insulting a lagger.


    Also the term ricking can be used when refering to lag.

    Long Long time ago I wrote about the RP problems but no one even care to replay. I propose even a good solution for fullfilling everyone RPs. Long legal trade routes where the police, military, hunters, and legal traders could do their long runs (with a high profit) with a good escort so everyone could play their RP. So Cops do their jobs and fund their clans with a legitamate trade routes and smugglers and pirate have their own illegal trade routes to fullfil their RP as well. I did propose this type of routes so everyone could fullfil their RP and keep in their boundaries of their own Role Playing. So yo could even catch corrupt cops, criminals, etc which would fullfil RP to the military clans as BG to hunt them (corrupted police) because of their illegal ways.


    However, the only high, long, a dangerous profitable routes are in the illegal goods while the legal trade routes are short and not profitable enough to the appeal of any clan in the community. This happen just after the VIPs route at sigma 19 was taken out. I would had prefer to change that route to a little longer one so police, hunters, traders clan could make a good profit keeping their legal site plus pirates would still have their RP fullfil by taxing the people on that route plus mercenary could even be hire for real escort due to longer routes and piracy activity in the server.


    Anyway, now, the only good trade route is smuggling illegal cargo and the bad thing is that everyone is doing it despite they are police, or hunters (even miltary) going against their own RP so what we have is all corrupted players by doing it so (including myself)

    Elite project started before 1983 by mad computers programmers inspired in the game Star Trader 1974 (which I play years laters when I got my first cpu at age of 8). 3 versions of Elite came out in 1984 and some of the ships already were there with a basic graphics (basic polygons shapes) Because of their success to be one of the first open space sim games, after 9 years, came out Elite II where we had a better look of the original models from ELite including textures (wow)...Then, after 2 years, FIrst encounters came out and it wasnt as succesful as Elite & Elite II despise the fact it was on CD format with much better graphics and better storyline.


    Now ELite 4 is on the way eventhough some people have their doubts if would be ever release while other people considered that still in serious production. The tentative release was september 2006 but Frontier development stated is was pure especulation...

    DaD & fallen are not here plus last time I check on global stats the brotherhood of steel was running another mod which wasnt CF so who knows. Same goes for fallen...But if they pay their rent, still their system. Just need to ask OP if they still paying their rent...


    However, from last Database update, only Fallen appear in it where DaD no...

    Ok guys, the response was much better after I cancel the meeting and we were close to cancel all the events ( not sure yet if that will happen) but since I got some old blood and new blood back in the game I have reschedule the meeting on Monday 05/06/2006 8pm GMT on SWAT-portal irc.     For people having trouble with the irc I advice you to get to BG portal and sign in from the bg chat. When I see you there Ill give further instruction to get into the portal...

    Yes, Yes... The Imperial Courier...it does look like that ship...maybe the anime took the concept from ELITE cause that game was one of the 1st space sim...I did fly that ship in Elite and it was great for trading...

    @Azadur, I did play all the Elite games and even first encounter (which was one of elite series that came for first time in cd format :D)

    Indeed the ship looks good and even resembly one of the ship from the ELITE sim game (did anyone play that one?) It could be a hybrid ship (human-allien tech) and the skin would be really important to make a final desicion...

    Instead of getting the shroud get the freedom ship which move the same than shroud and it is nice ship (you will like it) It is in purian lake which is for Fallen clan but since I made that ship I ll give you permission cause I made it for everyone and not just for a clan. You will find out how it moves the same and fight the same than the shroud. The looks indeed insnt that nice like the shroud cause the shroud had a painted job with logos and everything else but still have a nice metal looking. Forget about clan system, there are plenty systems you can explore and no one will bother you except the npcs. Give it another try and you will enjoy the inmensity of the mod that have many things to explore and some storyline to discover...Have you been in Death Valley, Freeport 7, Coalition systems, SOl system and lets not talk of Dom kavash where you can not go alone cause NPCs there are deadly and will overhelm you if you are by yourself...


    In case you dont like freedom, there are plenty ships out there that are pretty similar to shroud...One good thing that this mod have is that the major diference among the best VHF is just the looks cause almost all best are balance the same. The shorud had just one advantage over the others before and that was that could mount 3 disruptor launchers which for an experienced PvP fighter is pretty useful and deadly in CF. But that advantage from what i heard is gone, it can just mount 2 disruptors and 1 torpedo launcher. Again, this if you considering yourself goin into PvP but then again you could still explore first...


    I do hope you stay cause I am pretty experience playing like 30 different mod in SP but when I started to play CF, SP wasnt enough cause the experience you get online in CF would be far superior from anything else...

    Hello fellow managers, I ve been trying to get a hold of the event managers and so far only 2 replies. So I m posting here to see if this would have better response. We need to reinstate the events and I understand from what I was told there were some trouble to run tem so I hope we could find solutions in this meeting.

    Ok you tested the coalition ships when they where uber with 6 class 10 guns. Try then now that are on the same lvl than others (4 class 10 and 2 class 9) that is why you were wiping other fighters with the coalitions (not forgetting you got the uber gatling gun while other had ppcs) which is not the case anymore.


    So I come to next part, Freedom move much better and in the hands of an experience pilot would be hard to hit cause of its hard & sharp turn but there is fighter that still have the edge cause it has 3 disrupter slots and that would be the shroud. As a big difference from other servers, disruptors make a big difference in a all guns/missiles/mines attack in CF. Disrupter weapon do count in multirole attacks and experience fighters in Crossfire know what Im talking about...
