    Laser for President!

Forgive me mate - but merc is neither a cop or a pirate - and the problem maybe because so many people can only seem to think in two dimensions (black or white)(cop or pirate)

And, and - it seems to me the cops are the only ones that seem to therefore object to merc roleplay (if I agree to your definition above) by going hunt and kill mercs for a good two hours afterwards a merc hit.

Pirates seem to take any merc hits as part as rp without, without having to resort to some sort of collective punishment afterwards.

It used to be the case that if a merc hit you - a "good fight" was all that was needed afterwards - however this all supposes the mercs are being fair in their roleplay.

A Code of Conduct for mercs could help, by clarifying the things they wont do - in terms of fairplay.

For someone who has been out of CF for a bit but decided to spend more time back and online - I am a bit unhappy with the current situation regarding PX and the cops - but I am glad to say Kerm has been very open with us regarding the situation and has consulted with PX members -

I know OP dont like us talk about the rules all the time as he said they are very clear and that - from his own quote - I repeat - good roleplay is where everybody has fun and not having fun at others expense.

I am not online much so cant say much about what has been happening online - but - re the rules - specifically this one - I think it is not consistent.

    QUOTE1 -
Piracy The police may also fine characters for acts of piracy or being a known pirate (having a Pirate Syndicate Licence mounted). Acts of piracy include attacking ships (except know pirates) for profit (collecting bounties) or fun. Mercenaries who are working for pirates are also considered to be engaged in piracy for the duration of their contracts
    END QUOTE

I think this is a change from when I last looked at the rule and does not make sense - merc is seperate from police or pirate rolplay and you cannot count a merc doing his merc roleplay as an act of piracy!

Furthermore - what would happen if the pirates had the same attitude as cops?

    For example

Pirates will consider any mercs working for the law as legitimate targets during their contract and reserve the right to chastise any mercs that have fulfilled contracts as fair game for the next two hours.

Ok - even if you did go down this route (QUOTE 1) - then logically any cops or lawful people hiring mercs would themselves be encouraging piracy?

So - are cops upholders of the law or not? Can they have it both ways when it suits them?

Ok also - merc roleplay is hard - that is why not many do it as they walk the line between cops and pirates - friends to none and enemies to all.

If I can remember some other times - I remember in IOC once where some guy put a bounty on Simba - unknown to us. Simba and I were sparring somewhere around Kusari space where all of sudden two SL mercs appeared and killed Simba in the middle of a pvp practise we were doing.

    Yes in the middle.

I think - we just accepted it as merc roleplay and did not bother hunting the SL guys around the server -

So - maybe in summary - merc roleplay needs a little fine tuning.

Maybe a Merc code of conduct could sort somethings out?

Certainly Kerm and Darco to their credit have done a lot to establish a long time (hopefully) merc clan on the server and the reason why none exist now or ever before is that - sorry to say this - cops always always turn them either to pirates or cop support.

Mercs are supposed to be nuetral but should build good relations with other factions on the server as without your goodwill and cash - we will not get employed!

EDIT - I should add that merc rp is quite unique in that there are no options to negotiate. People can either pay tax or a fine OR die - you have a choice.

Mercs give you no option other than to die and that for some people is upsetting and can take time to handle - as you have no control over the outcome.

I declare that this post is THE BEST EVER on this forum and Huor - from now on - be known as Huor The Wise.

If it was me - I could walk behind her all day and it would not matter if I went 10 miles out of my way - or even if I injured myself - it would be worth it.

Even you - madame - enjoyed your little experience behind this bum - and imagine if you could - that feeling magnified one zillion fold -

    Fixed a typo!

Well you could always pay these guys!

Give the guy a chance - he is just completing the "Get out of Sol" challenge -

Hehe good idea, the only problem is that I am unable to recognize the lawfull clan from an unlawfull :D '?(' :-p

Matey - take it from me - you wont have more fun on the server than being chased by 4-5 pirates/cops

Some of these guys don't have a clue and have become so fat recently -

Avoiding these miscreants is also the most fun way to chart the systems.

    Pirates are TRF/SMG/Fallen
    Cops military are BG/DC/SFPD

    Apologies for any I missed.....

Exactly right - I dont want anyone listening to me!!

I just gave my experience - not any sort of recommendation.

One thing a train cant buy you is time - and players that spend a lot of time on the server will make more cash than players that are online once every four years.

Richer players are good also - as they contribute earnings to server events and promote roleplay in ways mercs would be grateful for.

    Interesting to see another view.

Not having much experience of other mods I cant say -

But I remember making money was pretty hard when I was new - doing missions and selling pods was something I enjoyed doing.

Things only took off when old Angmar basically ordered me to buy the largest tranport ship in the game - then I became a fat cat.

    Thanks.

    Dark_Raven

The most simple answer to that question is that when you are online - ask the right person for that clan system.

"Hey there guvnor, I am a new pirate/cop/smuggler/merc wishing to pillage/arrest/smuggle/assassinate some guys in your system - can I have permission?"

Just being friendly and polite will get you far.

The main as I see it is knowing which system belongs to which clan - there is a list somewhere.

I will also point you to the Clans/ System rules thread where changes to access rules are posted -

But as you are new - go forth mate and explore with no fear!!

Apology accepted - now get back online as the pirates are taking over!!

Seriously - OP has banned half this community and the other half are their fake alts.

Seriously - we all make mistakes and we are still here!!

Good news and welcome back matey.

    And, and, ... and

Can you describe the torture and whether it was effective?

I heard BG pilots were impervious to pain and were honourbound to die before releasing any info apart from Name, Number and Doughnut Preference.

I am liking the look of this mod - but as I am dum - can I ask the following questions?

Is the single player storyline in it?

Secondly - can you visit each of the different 'themes' as you play - or are you stuck with one choice?

    Az

This time can you add the telephone numbers of the hot babes you always post pics of?

Maybe some pics of actual games and gamers mixed in between the hot babes?
