we already had a mission to farm nomad carriers and battleships for their mine launchers. it was a nice action, but we were not lucky. maybe next time

Babylon 5 was a test station in Multiplayer mode and was meanwhile deleted. and It's absolutely impossible to buy anything on a Multiplayer station and take it to SP mode.
btw. also all clan/roleplay activities (like killing other players for a bounty) are limited on MP-mode. in SP you are allone, in MP you can interact with other players.

the Dragonfly you can buy only on clanbases. clan bases you can find only in MP. in SP u cannot obtain the Dragonfly. the only way getting a faster ship in SP is docking on the Nomad Station in Styx and buy the Ragnarok there. i have never done this, but other players say it is possible.
or, buy a Battleship or Dreadnought. they have a cruise-speed of 550.

You probably mixed the numbers. The Flathead has a cruise speed of 450.

even if there was a mod that would allow you to continue the story after losing the Hovis race, it is absolutely not recommended to use it together with the Crossfire mod. it would probably bug the CF-mod.
if you have hard times with winning the Hovis race we can offer to make it for you. just upload the specific savegame here and download the result later.

a more comfortable way is to use virtual machines. of course, it's more resource-consuming. a Win-7-machine for example needs around 50 GB. but the advantages are worth it.
