In terms of survival - the first thing is

DONT GO INTO ANY CLAN SYSTEM WITHOUT PERMISSION

DONT KILL ANY PLAYERS BELOW LEVEL 40

Other than that, relax and enjoy the game, do some exploring and meet some really nice people online.

Ask for help when you need it but dont be discouraged if you dont receive help straight away - server clans like BG, IOC, LP, CFPD, UAC etc are usually willing to help and advise..

Think about which rolplay you like, Trader, Smuggler, Police, pirates, mercs etc and give it a go - server clans usually specialise in a particular RP

Beware of pirates, they usually have an 'X' in their name, like you, they are clans LP, Fallen

Find your way to Sol
Find a good way to make cash (hint sell npc pods to jails after u kill them)
Find good trade routes (they change on daily basis though)
Particiapte in our events

For survival from NPCs:

1. Be careful in House capitols and X-3043; sometimes there are invasions of uber-strong NPCs.

2. Don't go into X-3043 or the surrounding systems unless you've got a good rep with the Outcasts, GMG, ASF, and CSF. All of these factions run patrols with VHFs and can pose a serious threat if you are not also flying a VHF.

3. The Borderworlds, the many Unknown systems, and Altair contain very strong NPCs of varying factions. It's a rough neighborhood so make sure you're ready for it. The aliens certainly don't play nice

Welcome. Always nice to have another player/target around. I think you will find most of us very helpful if you need some assistance online. But half the fun of Freelancer is exploring. So take some time, fly around a bit (but stay out of marked clan systems unless you get permission) and enjoy the expanded Freelancer Crossfire universe.
