OK, this is really starting to drive me nuts. I would like to insert a few choice words and a couple of gestures on how much this problem is pissing me off, but I'll keep it civilized.
I've played Freelancer without mods before and nearly finished it without any problems.
But with the Crossfire mod v1.6 I cannot, under any circumstances complete mission 2, because every time the splash damage from Ashcrofts ship destroys his lifepod.
Let me emphasis that again, "EVERY TIME THE POD BLOWS UP", no exceptions to the rule.
Yes, I know there is a reply under a similar thread, but the suggestion DID NOT WORK.
Lets see, I have:
- Used the wimpest weapons, such as the missles that does most damage to shields and very little to the hull.
- Used only one MK I turrent to fire on the ship when its at 40% and less, with a one shot/one kill approach NOTE: hitting the tractor button like crazy over and over.
- Changed the scripting in the FL MOD Folder and the Game Data folder.
In in either case neither method worked! The splash damage ALWAYS DESTROYS ASHCROFTS POD before I could tractor it in.
So the question is, how can I edit the game script to either reduce or remove the splash damage for the mission/game. OR, how can I make the pod invincible?
BTW - I did replace the orginal Mission Files over the FL Mission Files, that didn't help either.
Other than that does Crossfire v1.7 have the same problem? Is there a fix for this mod?
Other than the Crossfire mod from preventing you from advancing anywhere early in the game (feels like a trial or crippled game), it is actually not bad.
But unless the problem can be addressed, the mod is useless for the single player story mode game.
So after spending several hours trying to complete this mission, searching the internet for solutions and so forth. Are there any realistic solutions to the problem? Or are there any other mods worth trying (that does have a major or crippling bug)?
