Well if you haven't already, go to the downloads section of this site and download the Launcer patch and install it.
If you've already done that or once you're done, try again. If it only offers singleplayer after that then the server is down for updating

i have the patch. it worked fine just an hour ago!
btw. im doing a clean install now. maybe it will help. -
now it only got worse. i cant even start the launcher. an error pops up. i guess an other reistall then... just hope i dont have to reinstall windows...

Do u have admin rights or at least writing privileges to the program path?
-
what do u mean?
-
I mean what access rights does your windows system offer to u? In this case what access rights do u have to the program folder of freelancer?
-
i think that i have full access. i can see all the files and folders.

Hagar is referring to your user profile. In Win 2000 or XP, each user on the OS has a profile. If your profile is setup as an administrator, you have full access to the pc and can install and uninstall programs.
If you user profile is limited, you will not be able to access the multiplayer aspect of Crossfire 1.7. You need to have your profile upgraded to administrator for the MP element to work. -
I've found that reinstalling things rarely helps (plz don't go to the trouble to do more than reinstall the game :O). If you're having trouble with the launcher and it isn't any of the normal quirks there's a good chance that it's something simple that everyone here (yourself included) has overlooked. Maybe a walkthrough of how you set everything up would help... I'm no expert, but the more detail you give the easier it'll be to identify the problem

1. i have admin rights.
2. after 4 reinstalls of Fl and the mod, everything started to work. -

I generally restart my pc between each step of the installation process. That gives me a clean ini file to work with. (Install Freelancer, test it and restart. install Mod manager, restart. Install Crossfire, activate, and restart)
It sounds anal, and takes longer, but I generally have fewer issues.

im still thinking of formating the hard drive and reinstalling windows.

The problem is that people are not patient -
That's what i call wasting your time the game is good enough to work fine without resarts (maybe if you are done with insatlling all the products you can restart) so don't over do it
