SERVER IS DOWN

  • i dont know why the server is down so long, cannot you just make a scheduled task which executes a .bat file every 30 mins which in turn checks the status of the application is 0x1. if its not running, or crashed, then terminate the process and relaunch the server app. this little check could be made every half hour say, just so we get server back up and running.

  • Server is down again.

Around 1345 GMT the server went down. I tried to restart after the crashed but was not able to do it.

We had 6 LP's getting into Altair, maybe the DK's got scare and crashed the server :D

  • ban DK for bringing the server down!! [8]

  • OP

Seems to be around the same time each night, also, this time it went extrememly laggy and worsened. looks to me the hallmarks of a DDOS attack !?!

that can be the only thing thats causing this, because if the server is good, then it must be the connection. if the server is crashing (i.e. not responding) then theres several win admin tools you can use to detect this from the command line including tasklist, taskkill,
    /? - for help

    taskkill info...
    http://www.microsoft.com/resou…us/taskkill.mspx?mfr=true

    and schtasks
    info....
    http://www.microsoft.com/resou…us/schtasks.mspx?mfr=true

hope the above is useful info to OP if he doesnt already know it. you can use the above tools to make yourself an automated application rebooter with batch files.

if it is a DDOS attack which is what im thinking then theres tools you can get to filter it out, but ive not seen them cheap. because i think theres a lot of very low level coding going on in there.

  • When i went online tonight there was 6xx ping and server was kicking evry second player for cheat. Console was responding verry slowly and at some moment it cut anny communication also it looks confused about does the server is online or not. Standart ping in windows to the server IP was dropping atleast half of the packages. I managed to shut down the server in the beggining despite it answered with error executing this command and when trying to start again it said evrything is ok but actually never did start it.

  • hmm could it be that the comp its hosted iff gets tooo full of info and no were to store it if it has .tmp files?

or crappy cables or crappy internet????

  • Its a new server and we pay a lot of money for it fox

ahhhhh ok... well i would get in touch with them and tell them wat going on if its a company hosting it. and tell them [4] [5] [12] in that sorta order lol

  • I have no background whatsoever in this sort of thing, but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the hardware fox. It's probably a couple of messed up files or a bogus change that OP just needs to tweak the right way with his magic touch to fix. It'll be back to normal in all due time :D.

  • Yep Drakon thats the idea.

    Lets all cool down.

    New Server, new probs.

We just have to be patient and let OP work through and find a permanent solution.

heh.. the telnet software that comes with WinXP is awful. Turn HyperTerminal on.

Checked last night - seems HyperTerminal can be used to connect to the server/console.... ;)
