  • I bought a new PC today. It's a windows 10. I was installing all my favorite programs on to it, when I hit up Freelancer, so that I could install Crossfire. I installed Freelancer, and was about to run it, to get those little pop-up windows out of the way before installing crossfire, but I can't even run Freelancer, as a base program.

The error I get says: Please login with administrator privileges.

    And that's it.

Changing compatibility doesn't work, nor anything else I've tried, like putting freelancer in a different location.

Anyone else had this issue? Anyone able to fix it? I miss my space-faring days. I hope someone will be able to assist me. :sos:

    Thanks Everyone.

    God Bless,

    Daley.

  • Problem solved! Apparently, on windows 10, a no-CD crack is necessary in order to bypass the use of a disc checking method NOT supported by windows 10! I never would have guessed that that was the problem, from the error message I was given.

    Thank You.

  • windows 10 no longer has the drivers required for the copy protection of older games including Freelancer

a no-cd exe is required to run vanilla FL

for crossfire however you dont need that... it uses the freelancer.exe based on the ubisoft distribution which has no copy protection at all.

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.
