  • I discovered the game by chance. I was at a party one night at the Pink Flamingo in Glasgow and got talking to some right minded guys , who invited me back to their pad. It was there that we all done some lines of charlie off of a pc game box. That game of course was freelancer. Steve aka fancy nancy was right into space games and this was his latest addition to his collection.

The party was disturbed by some urgent and very loud bangs at his front door. It turns out the police had been tipped off that some leather clad , handle bar moustached guys were snorting some china white.

I legged it out the back door with the stash hidden in the Freelancer box.

A couple of weekends later after the stash was well snorted , i installed the game.
    The rest is history guys

  • 2years ago my brother came home whit some games he hade borrowed from a freind...one of them whas FL!I instaled it and hade a look at.I didnt know what to expect from it couse this whas the first "space-game" i ever played.Becouse i whas playing CS at the time(in the 3rd best clan in Sweden :D )i didnt get it to mutch time and some how i forgot about FL.....then one day when i whas looking thru my old games i found it lying there in my "old game box" :D .I instaled it again and started playing it and since then iv be possesed whit it [9] !!!

Ooo btw my brothers freind is still looking for it hahaha!!

  • i went round a friends house and he was playing Fl with another of my friends,(it looked really hard to play @ 1st) i then went out and bought the game for as cheap as i could find as i didnt fancy paying £40 for it, and eventually found it for £9.99, that was over 3 years ago and here i am still playing and still learning as i play.

WE ALL DIE AND THEN ARE REBORN

  • me me wass always fan of the roberts brothers playd all wing commanders and privateer serie's.
so for me it wass a must have
    wass verry easy to choose
got it in home from day 1 when it wass released.

  • Well, to me its an easy answer. One of my friends knowed i like this kind of games, (YUP! ELITE series) and said me about it, becouse he sure i will going to like it. And hi is right in big times. Next day i already got the game, and well let us say i'm addicted, within in a couple of hours. :D this is only some days after the offical release.
I played ower the sp in seweral times, (about 5-6) im not sure, and after i putted down but time after time i played them again. And ewen i not cared its not so realistic like the ELITE.
But To speak the thruth i only got the chance to play online recently. Becouse i got net in the beginning of this year.
After we talked about the games in one sci-fi fan forum (stargate) some of the people told me there is of a load of mods for freelancer. And thy are worth the effort.
Not needed to say i runned to try out them. :]

The first mod what i tryed is the CF 1.56 (in the bos serwer) and i liked it!!! Congrats OP its a wery nice work if you asks me.

Seweral years ago my friend told me the 1.62 comed out and give it a try. And so, here i'm! And this far i like this place, this communty. :D

  • I was searching for a space game and was planning to get Homeworld 2, but I could find it anywhere and then I saw Freelancer somewhere and since I remembered it getting a score of 88/100 I thought: Might as well get it.
Been playing for a while and later trying some mods amonst which was evolutions, the bugs n stuff started to bore me, so I quit. Later I got bored from another game and started to look for some new mods 'till I saw CF 1.62. Loved it and I'm planning to stay on playing it intensively.

Thank you for reading this way too long post

  • About a month ago I was looking online for a free roam RPG in a future setting when I ran across this game. When the reviewer compared it to Elite, I was sold. Since then the game has taken over every free moment I can spare for it.

Anybody know a way I can get paid to play this so I can quit my job? LOL

  • Several years ago, I started out PC gaming with Wing Commander III. For a long time I ended up leaving the genre alone, but eventually craved a modernized equivelent. About a year ago I set out to find the game closest to the mark for me, and found Freelancer (thank God I didn't settle on Tachyon instead O_o, lol). My biggest draw was the desire to have a game that was open-ended and incredibly replayable. I got more than I bargained for really :P. Finding CF was trickier though. My biggest mistake was trying all the simplest mods first. I tried out nearly all the mods from Lancers' Reactor in SP up until a couple months ago before discovering it. Obviously this has been my place to game since ^^. At first the complexity of the addons (equipment, ships, factions) made me want to go back to vanilla, and the huge jump from SP to MP left me in a state of shock (rofl), but I gave it a chance and it paid off well :].

  • To be honest I don't even know when freelancer came out. I was at a friends house and we were bored so he stuck this game in I'd never heard of before. Yup freelancer. He said he really liked it and was raving about it but to me it looked so simple. I thought no way is this fun! I've seen more apealing games than ones where you just run back n' forth! It didn't look open ended enough. But one day I had to redo my computer and I forgot my games at his house.

He was over and I was bored so I let him put it on. It wasn't so bad after all! I played for awhile but kept having to restart my charater due to limited space. (I was only running a measly 20 gig then.) Because of that I didn't get very far in the story before he was raving about mods. I kept trying to finish the story without them so as to not "ruin" it but soon I gave up on not using mods because not long after he installed CF to my comp. It sounded cool so I tried it.

OMG I love it! Thanks for making this OP because if you hadn't I may have never known how much fun the mods could be..

  • played every kind of fighter game and and sim game i could get my hands on. a friend told me about fl and tried to get me playing it. i refused for atleast 2 to 3 months cause it just didn't look interesting to me what so ever. just so happened i worked with my friend for 40 hours a week and for that much time a week for 2 to 3 months of listening to him rave about it i finally told him to shut the fuck up and give me the damn thing if it will make him shut up.
i'm still pissed at him cause it's the only agme i play now. and i think i'm starting to annoy him with all the raving now. i don't even remember the names of the other games i use to play or even where to begin to locate them in this house.
who needs drugs or alcohol FL is the most addictive thing i do and don't have much time for anything else now. my wife has to come in here and almost literatly pull the plug on the computer to get any time from sometimes. but she laugh's about it cause she knows exactly where i am all the time. locked in my room staying out of trouble on FL. lol
