So I just installed 2.0, this being my first experience with crossfire and I had some questions. I only play SP right now, might do MP in the future. Anyway, according to the wiki, you can purchase the Swashbuckler on the Rio Grande, but when I go there it just has the Defender. Do I have to finish the Original story before the CF content will start appearing, or is there something wrong with my install maybe? Any help is appreciated.

Hi Zorenox,
welcome . To your questions: CF Wiki atm contain mostly Crossfire 1.9 data and this mean that some ships location are not actual, on maps are not marked new jump-holes connections and not all new mod features are described as should be. Your install will be fine, only do not expect that all you search in wiki will be 100% correct. Amount of changes done to mod is massive (1.9 -> 2.0) and it simply need some time for updates. Not count small detail that it would be good leave at least some time for players own exploration.
Thread with ships locations taken directly from game (2.0) is here: Help needed: New ships models for wiki

Only BS with only Defender is Battleship Yukon in California and Swashbuckler is on Battleship Rio Grande in Colorado

Sounds like you didn't activate "Crossfire Mod 2.0 Client Edition" in Freelancer Mod Manager
-
I have "Freelancer 2 - Crossfire" active, but that's it. Did i somehow get the wrong download maybe?
-
Correct name is "Crossfire Mod 2.0 Client Edition" - maybe you extracted Crossfire20setup.exe to FLMM or something.
Which version is shown when you start Freelancer ?Correct install is explained in https://swat-portal.com/forum/index.php/wcf/faq/#faqEntry-18
-
Splash page says version 1.0
Would my using the no cd version make a difference? -
Nope, but you don't need it after CF 2.0 Mod install - I think you missed to run Crossfire20setup.exe from your download folder.
If you put Crossfire20setup.exe or unzipped in FLMM folder please move all to download folder and run Crossfire20setup.exe from there. -
No.
.. CF is "installed" in two steps:- mod installation which will install it into FLMM directory
- mod activation (in FLMM) which will unpack/copy all files into "vanilla" FL folder and do needed settings.
It looks like you did only 1st step, which will made no changes to your installed vanilla Freelancer (FL). Detailed guide for mod install/activation is in FAQ as mentioned in previous post.

I had done both steps. I did have the changed icons for formation, dock, etc, as well as the way-points but the splash didn't say crossfire like my latest attempt. Now it says crossfire on the splash, but i don't have the changed icons, and when i try to launch from Manhattan from a new SP it crashes. Also, all the menu text is tiny now, but only on the largest default resolution. I'm using a no-cd copy that i installed from a friends disc a few years ago, which might be causing problems. Also the first time i downloaded the mod, the folder came out empty, so I'm gonna re-download that tomorrow, see if that helps. If not I'm gonna invest in a new Freelancer disc. I will continue to play with it see if I can get it working.

Overwriting Freelancer.exe is not the way to go. It's a special Launcher for updates and options. It will be updated on first launch.
Your nocd version won't work with CF 2.0 (and you don't need it)Edit: Fix the font Crossfire2 font didn't install (Solved manually)

Back again with an update. Played around with some stuff, reinstalled mod, got that to work. However, when i try to launch single player(or multiplayer) from the client, i download 2 updates successfully, then the status bar says freelancer is running then immediately switches to freelancer closed without actually running anything. It just resets the client, including the voting popup, and makes me re download the 2 updates. Advice?
Also, thanks for all the help so far. Please let me know if you would like me to open a bug tracker for this, instead of continuing the post.
Cheers! -
Can be incompatible savegames from your \Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\SinglePlayer folder. Make a copy of your games and put them in ex a subfolder. Then cleanup this folder.

Played around with some stuff,
ARRGhh, got a baad feeling reading this.
M8, PLEASE do on installation ONLY what's described in the FAQs, no other things, since they will
most likelydefinitly screw your installation up.Stay with the default options the installers give you, at least for the first time.
Do every step PREZISLY, TAKE YOUR TIME and DON'T RUSH things.
Especiallly the part with making clean slate with everything related to Freelancer
and
setting your security suite.btw, what OS do you sport ? win7 (which one) ? win8 (which one) ?
-
Win 7 home premium sp1, but apparently it was norton screwing with it. I didn't have 360 so i figured that wouldn't be a problem, but it was. So it seams all is right in the world now, and i finally get to tryout the glory that is Crossfire!
Thanks for the help, and the links. I would like to suggest that a link to the faq be placed in the wiki, probably on the starter guide. I don't know about other people, but i tend to look at things like that to get an idea of whether or not i will enjoy something, so having the faq install guide there would be more likely to see traffic. Idk. at any rate, thanks all, i hope to have time to blow stuff up soon! -
Good, enjoy play
... and thx for suggestion, will do this this evening.
