IOC was formed in the interests of preserving the freedoms of freelancing, while adding the advantages of mutual security, trading efficiency and a home system. IOC pilots have unparalleled freedom in making their mark in Sirius and beyond, with only modest restraints. IOC is violently opposed to piracy, and fervently defends its smuggling interests in the face of law enforcement encroachment on free trade. Despite House sanctions against our trade, IOC pilots perform an invaluable service to civil society by their judicious handling of materials deemed too hazardous or sensitive for the general public to appreciate. Our alliances reflect that reality, despite the public perception that we are at odds with the rule of law.
Our Modus Operandi
This is the starting point for any pilot aspiring to IOC membership - The IOC Charter. Together with our Code of Conduct, these are the expectations of IOC members. Some players are loathe to adhere to any rule set, while others appreciate knowing that modest boundaries help to ensure a fair playing field for all. Without further ado, here is the Charter:
Independent Operators’ Consortium
Risk Mitigation for Sirius Freelancers
“Committed to judicious augmentation of freelancers’ opportunities throughout Sirius…”
Why a Consortium?
Freelancers inherently cherish their freedom, including its risks, and are loathe to be bound by the artificial restrictions of governments and other institutions. They are not generally lawless, and afford each other the respect due them for taking the path of personal responsibility and hard work. Clans organize themselves as quasi-governments, with a strict behavioral code, group meetings, server administration, etc., ad nauseum. The IOC has been conceived as a business association free from both the requirements placed on clans by the server administration and the rituals of the clans themselves.
By associating voluntarily, and committing to a modest set of rules and requirements, freelancers now have the opportunity to enjoy most of the advantages enjoyed by clans, while maintaining the independence they require for truly individual styles of play. While not officially wedding itself to the “Order” forces in Sirius, the IOC lends itself to the maintenance of order when the group is called upon to defend the interests of its members.
Prerequisites
The prerequisites listed here are given not to create barriers for aspiring freelancers, but to ensure a true buy-in to the concept of the Consortium, and some assurance that members will stay around long enough to make an actual contribution to the CrossFire community. Loyalty is an essential element in any cooperative effort, so the prerequisites are merely an entry-level measurement of loyalty.

IOC has become one of the most respected clans on the SWAT server, because its members conduct themselves with good sportsmanship and grace. You can all continue to be proud of your IOC membership as long as we all remember to keep our cool, and just have fun. For reference, the following points are offered as a sort of Code of Conduct for IOC pilots. While the list is extensive, it is not conclusive, as many unforseen situations may arise. As long as we all do our best to abide by these guidelines, we will set the standard for other clans and players to follow!
- Obey the server rules
- Do as much RolePlay as you can
- No cursing at other players
- No noob killing
- No AFK kills
- If a member needs military assistance drop all else and assist clanmate
- No entry into clan systems without permission from that clan, if possible (assume all risks if entering without permission)
- Treat others with respect and courtesy even if they dont deserve it
- Join or invite all IOC to group chat whenever possible
- No use of profanity in forum posts, either here or on other forums
- Keep bragging to a minimum, both on forums and in-game; we don't need people getting P.O.'d by a member's indiscretion
- Bring any disputes with other IOC members here to OUR forum, not on the server forum
Submit to the authority of IOC leadership in arbitrating disputes with other players or handling clan discipline. Our leaders are only interested in protecting the considerable advantages we all enjoy as members of an honorable CF clan. Rebellion against your leaders is an act of treason against all your clan mates, and will have to be dealt with.
