Question on weapon

  • Since it is not a "problem" I put it here, something Im not really sure about`:

    targeting "practice" of turrets.

I know that the aiming by cursor is coupled to the "fastest" gun mounted.
Controling the up-down/left-right movements of every gun - also "slower" ones
in order to hit this point is then computed by the FL-engine for the gun-mount,
    the hardpoint "HpWeapon--".

Turrets are mounted on a different hardpoint : "HpTurret--"

Is the turrets moving, "hitting" computed the same way as the guns - any gun
or are they handlerd separate/different by the FL-engine ?

    Background of the question :
Do they "miss" the target the same way as a slower gun would in combination with a faster,
like a Neutron weapon kombined with a Laser gun ?
Would a Lavablade turret miss the same way as a Lavablade gun when combined with a
    Laser gun ?

  • turrets are practically the same as guns
if they miss or hit depend on multiple factors

NPCs have settings which tell them how accurate they are
however, if a weapon hits or not also depends on the speed of the projectile and the time a target has to evade

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

  • @ Gibbon
Might it be, that you refer to the option
    " auto_turret = true/false "
in the appropriatly related .ini ?

    @ OP
I know the difference between firing guns with speed 600 or 750 at a distance of - let's say 700.
Also about the difference of their "hitting" performance, when fired together on a moving target
while moving myself and using the cursor aiming aid. :D

...but what when I use guns with speed 600 together with turrets with speed 750 at the same distance ?

Which projectile speed will "guide" the cursor aiming aid ? The guns or the turrets projectile speed ?

  • FL generally makes use of load orders
the chances that the same applies to the internal functions which calculated the lead indicator is pretty high
so whatever weapon is loaded first might be used to do the calculation (whether that is based on the definition of the ship hardpoints or the time the weapons were mounted and written into the player file)

but it also might be that the fastest weapon is used.. or the slowest
    dunno
