Msinet problem

  • Hi!

Recently started playing FL again and thought "hey I wonder what kind of cool mods are out there.."

Downloaded CF and the FLMM but whenever I try to launch it, I receive an error saying:

    ---------------------------
    CF Launcher
    ---------------------------
Component 'MSINET.Ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

    I've tried countless different things;

    -Reinstalled FL, CF and FLMM

-Registered msinet on the command prompt along with downloading and putting into the systems 32 folder manually

-Tried using the Dependancy Walker program to attempt to fix a file, got one replaced.

    -Ran everything as admin

But I am still experiencing the same error.

Any help here or pushed in the right direction would be swell!

  • hi nicknock, you seem to have done all the initial stuff correctly. many of us have experienced the same problems.

all i can recommend, and you probably don't really want to hear it, is to do a clean install of everything again.
i would recommend that you uninstall everything so far and make sure that nothing is left on your computer, fragments are sometimes left behind.
then re-download the CF mod and the mod manager v1.31 from this forum. do a clean install of your Freelancer disk, don't play it.
install mod manager v1.31, don't play it. open and extract the CF mod then install it using mod manager. with all so far ensure that you set compatibility to win xp.

the above is how i eventually got the mod going. after all that effort i can tell you that it will be worthwhile in the end.

hope it works out for you.

    cheers

  • Hey guys thanks for the feedback

For others experiencing the same issues I was, what actually seemed to do it was uninstalling MSINET.OCX in the command with "regsvr32 /u /s MSINET.OCX", then reinstalling that single file again and applying it accordingly.

I don't know why but it seemed to have done the trick! Gave me hope for vista users

  • Yes, you just have to install a proper msinet.ocx file. Users can search for "msinet.ocx fix" on the Search Engine up in the corner :)

Freelancer and Crossfire works perfectly on all Windowses, including 8.
