My two cents

    Here is my tiny list of things that would look nice in CF 2.0 8). :


    1. FINALLY adequate BS bumping system, so if,say, Dreadnought hits the Patriot Pat flies away and Dnt stays on its course (obvious thing, eh).
    2. Not just flyable but even dockable Cap Ships. Well, it can act like carrier - but the loss of it would be more painful to fleet.
    3. AI enhancement and (especially) autopilot routes. It's dumb as a log and completely unuseful atm.
    4. Some special thrusters that would affect the strafing capabilities of one's ship.
    5. Intuitive ticket system for bugs\suggestions\news etc. It's pretty easy to do, I think
    6. With ticket system it's even possible to do a "rolling" distribution, so game would patch itself at the launch if update is available.
    7. Modular architecture. The archive is just HUGE. The ones with not-very-powerful PCs or bad connection do not need the HD textures\bg's\et cetera, so they would dl just the tiny package with all really needed stuff.

    P.S. Well, what's the problem with mount points? They're defined somewhere, so why we can't just make the new types o' these?

  • 1. is conflicting with FLs game engine
    2. in my eyes the most useless feature ever
    3. what do you mean? the autopilot acts perfectly
    4. thrusters have nothing to do with strafing -> there is no equipment which can have influence on that stuff
    next to that there are special thrusters in CF
    5. ticket system does exist and is used pretty frequently
    6. also something that already is done, the launcher updates the mod at every start with the latest patches (if not installed yet)
    7. modular mods always lead to problems and we as creators can not guarantee that everything works like it should if people suddenly start doing manual changes on the mod. Crossfire comes as full package and that wont change. The activation options give as many customization options as we consider "safe".



    mount points can be freely created (at least by us mod creators)
    mount classes on the other side are hard coded and even we are not able to change them without the source code

  • to point 1.: i actually dont always want to compare with Discovery but they made it that smaller objects bumps off the BS and IMHO it's pretty annoying to fly through an asteroid-field with a BS, it's nearly impossible to navigate through (especially in the Manticore).
    So personel question: is it possible to make BS go "through" asteroids or even bump them out of the way? this would be pretty awesome!

  • discovery battleships behave like fighters... not like battleships... thats why
    you will never see something like that in CF
