Hi there pilots,
i need help of a qualified .gif-maker(?) who is fit in Freespace2. so thats my request:
i want the GTVA logo (0:24-0:37) and the SOC logo (0:43-057) as gifs, i was really looking for it for a long time on the net but without success 
so if anybody is out there who has the knowledge and sparetime to approve my request then pls pm me or reply to the topic 
cause i have no f*cking idea of how to create gifs 
Making a gif of that image was easy, but seeing "gif-maker", I guess you want the full animated logo ?
Well, it can depend on where you wish to use it...
As I got the logo animation here(for GTVA only, for now):
No hint on any SOC logo... for now.
oh that one looks actually pretty nice so far, but i have meant the gtva logo with the "gull-wings" and the three lights on each side (the thing that opens and closes), you know what i mean?
and the SOC-thingy i dont know either 
So you need them only in .gif animation format, and not video or something else ? (videos have more frames than gif, but you can't ptu videos in your signature, etc, this is why I asked what for you need those logos).
Yet, those logos like the SOC one looks quite great 
ohh yayaya the .gif(s) would be for forum use or whatsoever, i cant use videos for that, this i know^^

Well, I had no idea about making gif animations either... and that was a problem. 30 mins ago.

PS: I notice it has some pixels looking different, but that's gif's limitation, as it's not like a video, but an overlap of different pixels than the anterior ones, and too small differences get skipped.

I may do the GTVA one tomorrow if you still need it (you can still choose), I had enough of processing frames (100+ in 30 mins) for today

Edit: I noticed you tried to put it as Avatar... it won't work. It's only for forum usage, as you said, where you can insert an image.

hm damn, i wanted the SOC as animated avatar... so what can be done now that it will work, reduce the size somehow? (most probably, isnt it?)
i think we had a misunderstanding there: yes i wanted the logo for forum usage in the case to place it in avatar or signature
but well, that was the first try for it and i hope you'll find a solution for this issue... im so infatuated by it^^
forum usage --> image insertion code, everywhere where you "insert" the image
Avatar using is a different story.
But 200 kb limit size is very low... too low for animations longer than 3 seconds 
It'll have to bee kinda shorter/faster, and smaller, I'll try it.
By the way, I made the simple GTVA logo (the one from that video) using a different technique, conversion, which only took like 10 seconds. But it's still doubling the size limit for an avatar, so it won't work.

hehe im so smart, i tricked out the imageshack a little and now it works, hooray!
though it is bit small for an avater whatever...
that new logo looks great, how you did it?
You nerfed the image by resizing it to less than half of it's original size... it looks too pixeled now

Different image composing and less frames, and it's a lil bit shorter(could make it longer but it'd look too laggy due to frames), but much bigger and better quality.
It's funny and annoying that with bigger the differences between frames, the bigger the file gets...
ho ho ho, I just discovered an Optimization technique (encoding tricks) that was very helpful and looks promising.
Can you see the difference ?
1rst is 341 Kb and second, on the right is 194 Kb (the one for your avatar)
Both have same definition, size and framerate and frame ammount (framerate is the speed of frames/second, and ammount is how many frames/images there are in total).
The optimized one (on the right) even looks clearer, as it has no junk pixels appearing arround.
And much better than the one I posted before, with less framerates, which was shorter and more laggy.

Adobe media encoder cs4 and cs5 have the ability to convert any type of video to animated gifs
It converts Videos to animated gifs, default size, smaller than 200 pixels and only the entire video. It's what I've done with the GTVA logo, from the vid in youtube. What if you only want a part/sector(from inside the image) of the video ? Or if it has to be of a certain size, or kb ammount, and etc.
