  • ok, People say I am a perfectionist in some ways and I will not cross my wife. Currently though she is asleep so I am free free free, umm sorry lost track.

ok, Crossfire server is designated as a Role Play server as I understand it.

With this I have a bit of a problem, but mind you I am only a few hours old on the server so perhaps I missed something here.

When I started my character it was with a roleplay mentality so I worked hard at trying to get my character neutral with as many facitons as I could, pop off a police there, a xeno here, a cargo there, check profile rankings, wash rinse repeat.

Why you ask? Well, I had wanted ot make a bounty hunter character. As such, the basic roleplay of any bounty hunter in many of the games i have played over the years is they need to go here, get there, deal with legal factions as well as criminal. Ergo the obvious thought here was try to make the character as much as possible, able to land, deal, purchase, buy, swindle, head hunt on as many faction locations as possible.

However and here is the glitch, now that I am about ready to go get a better ship "with a large neutral facition profile", people will not sell to me because I am not "Friendly" enough. WTF!!!!!! OH Sorry I mean HUU!!! As far as I know, if you can get somewhere in the real world, AND have the cash, you can buy, sell, trade, or launder, about anything to include weapons, arms, ammo, fighter planes, tanks you name it.

So, here is my basic sugesiton if you have not seen it comming yet, why not make it that "IF" you can land on a locaiton, then by natural selection, you shuold "IF" you have the cash, be able to deal, trade, buy and sell on same said locaiton, with and for what ever is on sale there. In this way you would actually be dealing with a more realistic roleplaying model for those of us, umm nonperfectionist.

Other wise if this is simply too unconcevable for many, "Psst, Hey server admins, Wanna Make a deal I have a few billion on hand and need a fast ship fully loaded for the Kessel run" hint hint....

Seriously though, if you can land you should be able to buy that simple.

  • Just because you can dock at a station/planet, doesn't necessarily mean the faction "likes" you. It only means they "tolerate" you docking. If you docked at my station and a background check showed you as 2 notches above hostile [still neutral white], I wouldn't sell you anything either! That's where rep bribes come in. Find a ship you like, then grease a few palms for the right to buy. IMHO, you did it backwards. Make a bunch of money first, buy what you need, then fix your rep. Also, many player factions have ships carrying large stores of equipment and weapons and will gladly sell you them [usually at a slight markup from retail]. If you find a nice thruster but the beotches running the depot won't sell to you, ask another player to purchase it for you and transfer it over. Many of us would be glad to help out a fledgling merc.

  • Some good suggestions there. Yet for weapons you would need to find someone who was able to mount them, since I do believe it will not sell you any weapons unless you can mount it first, right? Still trying to get this mod down is all why what may seem to be obvious answer questions.

  • Reputation management IS actually a bit more demanding in CF 1.9 than previous releases, but as Rex mentioned, enough cash can overcome all obstacles. Of course, if you're a tightwad like me, you'd rather just kill enough faction enemies first to get the rep up to dealer standards, and save the cash. My newest character is doing this very thing; I've got to kill quite a few more Xenos to get the Hackers to sell me their thruster @ Leiden! See you in space 8).
