    Someone please explain to me why I can't reply to some threads that aren't closed?

    Hmmm... well your permissions might be screwed up, there might be a section that you aren't a part of, but you can still see, it might be closed and you don't realize it (it doesn't give the warning bars at top now, just shows lock on icon), or any other number of reasons.
