How to Switch over to 1.9

    This is a simple and impending question since only 2 more hrs remain for the release of CF 1.9.
    The question is how do i switch over to 1.9 from 1.82 without losing my MP chars
    generally CF installs require clean FL installs, which will make my FL generate new FL ID.
    Just to be on the safe side I have taken a backup of the id . But I don't know how to use that to keep the same chars when I switch over.
    Any answers will be helpful.

    As I told you ingame already.
    When you make a clean install of FL, you get the chance to type in your FL-ID as soon as the game recognizes that you are going to join MP.
    Then the window appears (where you got your old ID created at the last installation you did) Just type your old ID there and you will be fine.


    For another possibility, just download the FL-Account Managerwhich is managing all your existing accounts (written in the system registry)
    Install and scan for new Accounts. As soon as recognized just answer the question appearing with "yes" so it is placing the "new found" accounts into the manager.
    Then simply EXPORT ALL Accounts (it creates a file you can simply use later on)
    After making a new "clean" install of your FL, you simply run FLAM again and first scan for new accounts (after you started FL in MP again, it creates a new ID and you got another usable Account)
    THEN Import from file (selecting your previous created file) and put your "old" ID into the FLAM, and voila .. you can use both Accounts, the new created one, with the new installation, AND the old one you safed from the older installation of FL :)

    What about SP? I thought the problem was that if we had save files when re-installing Freelancer, the game would not launch (at least that's what happened the first time I tried to install Crossfire, had some old save Freelancer save folder that screwed up everything).


    Will I have to re-play through the beginning?

    • Multiplayer ID: In the Start Menu of Freelancer you will find an Option called "Examine My Account ID". Use it to print/save your Freelancer MP Account ID if you have only one ID it´s all you need.
    • Savegames of an older Mod Version: On a fresh Install of FL/CF i normaly copy my SP Saves and configs to a new directory. After i did this i uninstall FL completly Save Game Folder included.
      When i installed Freelancer and Crossfire completly new i start the Game the first time without my savegames, so the Game is producing the Save Game Folder and it´s config.inis etc. I close the Game copy my SaveGame Folders to the new builded one overriting the existing ones and never had a problem to use any SaveGame with a new Mod version.

    Many thanks, that's approximately what I was about to do if I had to re-install, minus the part where you start a new game for the new folder to be created. Now I can keep playing safely^^

    Hi I've just joined and the reason being is I've only just come across crossfire I've tried all the other mods but this is the best by far.


    I have a question though


    First when can I get my hands on mod 1.9 it looks great and I'm really looking forward to the single player improvements and new story line.


    Second I'm playing through the game on 8.2 to get used to it and I've come up against dexter hovis although he is usually easy to beat this time he is not because of the increased cruise speed I just can't make the forth gate no matter how I try, is there a solution to this in the new mod?
