  • Hey folks,

Just 2-3 hours ago, I noticed that my Windows audio had just turned off. So, I checked in Device Manager the audio drivers and they seemed to be ok. Just in case, I've restarted my PC to see if the problem would fix , but instead... it remained. So, I uninstalled the audio drivers and installed them again, but... the problem remained. Then I looked if there's a cable unplugged , but... there wasn't. I've also tried troubleshooting , but... it didn't worked as well.

    Troubleshooting:

The sound card couldn't be damaged(or something like that), because I would of received another kind of message. I've pretty much tried everything possible, but ... the problem still remains. -_-

    Any solutions? ;/

  • *kiddingicouldntresist* :D

-_- ... well, as you mentioned " switching " ... I've tried to run any music or a movie ... but, it didn't worked at all ;o .. so wtf is this problem really?

  • -> This computer cannot play audio because the Windows Audio service is not enabled. Enable this service using the Service Management Console.
-> No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.

    Wtf?

  • It seems like it was never turned off:

    Edit:

I think I found it, but...when I click at start, look what it pops up:

  • Maybe there are a few more services for that. Its not working meanwhile or?
Try to deavtivate and activate again. Maybe that solves it. Not unusual for Windows^^

    Edit by
Sry try to google for it. I gave some impulses to bring you on the way. My knowledge is not enough for that.

  • There isn't such an option ;D ... the Stop button is inactive , so I gave " refresh " , but... with no effect...

    Take a look at this:

I think this is the problem, but... see what pops up when I click at " Start " -_-

Thanks a lot anyway mate, you brought me very close to the problem

  • hi crysis
i just got my computer back and started to play the mod and have had nothing but trouble, i suspected the sound card and i,m running vista. the last two weeks major lag and intermitent freezing of the screen whlie in action, things gone nuts but the moment i get out of the game everything is running great till i log back in to the game. so i have just started to wonder if my sound card was going on the blink. interesting

    kermit

  • nothing wrong with a sense of humor. i will keep persisting with the mod and just get quicker with my actions good practice and if it comes to the crunch well back to the doctors and replace the sound card there is more problems with the world than this

    kermit

  • Crysis. If you didn't solve the problem yet.

Use your "device manager" to uninstall everything related to sound + multimedia devices.
Uninstall everything related to it also make sure you uninstall / delete the current drivers from your system too.
Pay attention that the devices are NOT going to be reinstalled /recognized by the system automaticly right after you uinstalled them.
Reboot your system and chose the option "let windows search for the right divers" (or something similar)
Do NOT pick the drivers yourself (even you might know where they are located)

If you happen to know the manufacturer of your sound chip (card) try to get the latest drivers for your system from their support site.

    Reboot again.

I hope that helps you :)

  • Kermit: Dude , Vista sucks. So , I suggest you get Windows 7. But, anyway .... I believe something is interfering with your game, such as Anti-Virus , Firewall , or the Anti-Virus' firewall.

ARROW: Heh, .. keep trying mate ;D

And Abras , I've already tried that , it didn't worked. The problem is that " Windows Audio " that I must turn on somehow ... but, I don't know how as it doesn't let me do it ;/ -_-

  • As soon windows recognizes a service (in your case the Audio service) its going to be turned on automaticly.
Windows is normally only turning off any services on request, or if there is no apropriate driver installed. So Windows tries to seperate the "not working" service from others and also tries to make sure that the other services are running properly

Have you tried to start windowsn in "safe mode" and deleting all audio related installations, including the drivers?
Also in safe mode uninstalling all components which are audio and/or multimedia.
eG Speakers, Audio device, Windows multimedia device, Audio- Video and Game Controller (everything whats in that section)
the starting the system in "normal mode" again and let windows install either the basic drivers to run it, or pick the "use windows update to find the right drivers" option, which should be given you during the installation process.

  • Heh, no need now dude ... I fixed it ;]

I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Audiosrv/DependOnService and I've removed all of the entries except RpcSs , then I restarted and ... the audio is ... fixed ^^

Anyway, thanks a lot for the help you provided me folks, I couldn't get that far if it wasn't for you.(Especually the help from Huor, thanks a lot dude^^)
