So I just started playing online and i was curious as to how you "level up" in this server because I've done a couple of missions and never made it to level 1 and I would really like to get out of this starflier so i can actually start playing. So what do I have to do to get out of limbo level 0? Thank you.

Well it's working now I guess I just had to relog after making my character is what it was. What the problem was, was that it wouldn't let me buy any ships even though I was technically rank 18 because of the starting money it still wouldn't let me buy any other ship, in fact it said I had to be level 1 to buy so that's why I was confused, but when I just logged back on it actually let me so I'm good now.
Time to have some fun!! -
levels on CF are custom so may be they required a save of some kind that happened when you logged off and returned.?.?.?
Anyway, now have fun !

About the purchase of ships just after you buy a char - possible solution is to relog or undock and get killed.

Ahhh yes, I have noticed this as well...
When giving out money to a new character, despite level being increased,
it was not recognized right away to purshase a ship and needed to relog to have level restriction removed. -
