What do you mean a Singleplayer Patch? When he activates the mod all he has to do is either choose Normal SP (for the Campaign with Juni and Co.) or OpenSP so that he can play just like MP, but without the other players, just NPCs.

the SP gets the latest updates the same way as MP: via launcher
