Nice, no doubt. Looks like the "gaming pc" will have to become the weaker brother of the "working pc".
Apart from this, much more important are facts about things like stability, speed, compatibility and resource management.

if you want probe ubuntu
employ the "portable ubuntu remix"
this dont need an install and run under windows as OS
very usefull -
Windows trying to be cool... FAIL

Yup that's why i switched to Linux long time ago. If it wasn't for FL and i used my pc only for work Windows would have never stained it.Linux however is not for everyone, not because it's harder to use on the contrary but it isn't originally designed for everybody. It gives you the choice to do what u want to do and some people like things to be chosen for them.
P.S. I don't wanna start a flame war here

That is exactly the point. This little "if".

Thats all crap that no one can use. If i want a window open, i just want that it opens. There is no need for utter disturbing fade effects or twirling around. Thats annoying if you really need to work on your pc. Henceforth Vista and Win7 are not as popular as XP --> i guess for a long time.
-
thats true - such effects disturb while working
on win7 i disabled all effects and made it look like win95 when i had to work
its just faster... you dont need to wait for effects being done
you dont have useless stuff popping upand i seriously question the need to write something on the desktop with flames that vanish

I thought you posted this because you like this style and now you tear it apart by yourself?
Well...i would probably prefer Linux to Windows.....but half of the Software and none of my games would work then. Still in my institute some people use linux systems for complex math calculation and are much happier with the performance. Still, one needs to sacrafice a lot for leaving windows. That's just much pain. And since XP Windows became a pretty good operating system. I hate monopolies, but i have to admit, there's no serious reason for me to switch to linux......not even install it for a test.
-
of course i do
i did the same with windows 7style and performance is something that does not fit together and i like both
-
wtf you can write on the desktop with flames that vanish?!
CAN THESE FLAMES BE PINK?!?!?!?!
-
yes spiky - go for it
-
Mac Os is great for performance and style btw. I wont compare it to windows, but looking at ubuntu made me laugh
-
I have Ubuntu on VirtualBox for small-time iPhone development for Cydia (it's more OSX-ish than Win), and even though it's sorta kinda good, it just doesn't feel right at all. IMO they still have a long way to go.

Take it from a guy that maintains Windows and Linux machines for a living, Windows has a long way to go too
-
thats because nothing can mess with lcars
