I can't seem to get my CF to connect to your server. It could be that my interwebz connection is bad. Dunno. But could it be that I need to configure my firewall to connect?
Can't connect to server?

I LOVE the ever so vague help I get here... </sarcasm>
No seriously, how can I configure norton to allow me to get onto the server? -
-
Thanks much!

dont worry... its just that the community did learn from me
They answer "yes/no questions" usually with a "yes or a no". -
Have you successfully connected in the past and how long ago?

I have played crossfire before about two years ago on a friend's computer. I found my old FL disk and got excited to beable to play online with a new laptop. Unfortunately I have Vista and norton. I've gotten it to work so sar but I can't get it to get the server. I see it. I have the DPU numbers and the IP address set as okay in my firewall for FLCF What specifically do I need to do to get this to work with norton? I know how to mess with the firewall now but I think I'm missing something.

jeez just get rid of that piece of shit Vista and download the Windows 7 RC beta and all these problems will be solved
btw. get rid of that crap Norton anyway, try with AVG (its free) works fine with me on Vista

All I want to know is if there is a way to bypass norton. It's obvious that it works. Others here are playing with vista and norton. I want to know how!

i think anybody trying to combine Vista and Norton failed

Acer did it. -
so everyone except Acer failed?
i just need to ask, because i don't use Vista, but have constantly been told that it is not working together and u simply cannot find the server due to Norton on Vista...
-
Okay, I think I figured it out. Norton has a rule modifier. I just need a little information. in the setup faq on this site it said the servers udp port num nums were 2302-2304. I figured out how to override my firewall but I need more info. I made it so my computer should be able to connect to the server. is it Local or Remote? I think this should work. I just need the technical data for the server. I have the ip address, it's listed there on the server screen. Like i can find the server, heck, I'm looking at it right now.

Norton and Vista definitely never worked for me.
-
Can somebody contact ACER for me? apparently I can't send Personal messages.
-
Trust me, even if you set the ports and override the rule permissions, it still wont work because of the way Vista is set up, Ive tried before awhile back and was never able to connect despite the fact that the server showed up. Its something to do with the kernel software that Vista is based off of. The only way to get it to work properly is to completely remove Norton, and replace it with something like AVG, Avast, or Avira. If you do manage to get it to work with Norton still working, I'll be highly surprised.
As Spiky said, it will probably be best to try the windows 7 RC since its a million times better then Vista, and on a plus side the RTM release will be out on the 22nd of this month!.
*Cant wait*
P.S. I just looked up Acer's account, and it seems as though he hasnt been on the forum since 2006, and as far as I can tell, there is no contact info of any kind.
