  • I'm building a few PC's atm and just wanted to know the
    following

First which graphic card of the ATI/APG series is is of an
    equal level of a G force 6200?

these two ati based cards are ones i can get hold of

    9200
    9250
    9500
    9600 - i think

would one of these compare to a G force 6200?

And im building an Ubuntu 9.04 Linux PC and want to know
how to install win XP on it in windowed mode. i know it
can be done and if i can set up a LAN through XP that way.

    thanks

  • Why do you want ATI? I, personally, prefer GeForce over Radeon (have had bad exp. with radeons).

  • cuz PCI is slow and APG is fast. and ATI ones are the cheapest
G force ones are a bit harder to get though
so... pretty much anything that's better than the one i have will do.
but im watching an auction atm on a G force 6200 with 256mb ram and APG
hope i can get it. LOL same one but APG and double ram :D

PCI (the one you're talking about) < AGP < PCIE (the one I'm talking about) :)

Get a PCIE (PCI Express) card if you can -- they're the fastest ;)

AFAIK PCI isn't used nowadays, and AGP is totally outdated when compared to PCIE. You won't find a GeForce 200-series AGP card ;)

    i just scored a p4 mobo for $10 and 3 P3's for $28!
and 5 near new keyboards/3 anti glare screens/2 moniters
nice ones and 2 optical mice for $16!

  • Personally i would say go for the R9600 AGP. Had an XT version of one of those cards many years back, its been running in my son's pc now for almost 4 since i pasted it onto him.

Good cards at a good price (especially when on a budget)
