What I posted here is a workaround. If you do not want to use the values I chose I could propably help with finding the right inis. If there is no more to it than the inis I could also do the job I guess.
However when it comes to moving the HUDs Im out. I tried to do that with some programms from tlr but without success -
I remember that the tekagi's forum had one, I post it
----------------------------------------------------------------------The following was collected from a few websites and abit of my own thinking, so decided to post it here if needed.
To get freelancer ( tekagis treasure ) working in widescreen in this case 1680x1050 do the following.
1) Go to my documents > my games > freelancer and open prefoptions in notepad. At the bottom it will say [Display] and underneath size= change it to 1680, 1050 or what ever widescreen resolution you use. Not the space in between the 1680, 1050. Now save and exit.
2) Now go to c: > program files > microsoft games > freelancer > DATA . Once there open cameras in notepad
Delete whats there and paste the following.
[WinCamera]
fovx = 63.504809977813375[CockpitCamera]
fovx = 90
znear = 2.000000[ChaseCamera]
fovx = 90[DeathCamera]
fovx = 90Now save and exit.
3) Now go to c: > program files > microsoft games > freelancer > EXE . Once there open freelancer in notepad.
At about the 9th line down it says size change it to size = 1680,1050 ,or what ever resolution you are using.
Now save and exit.4) Now go c: > program files > microsoft games > freelancer > FONTS .Once there open fonts in to notepad. Now delete all whats there and paste the following.
[TrueType]

Now you are all done any ready to play in 1680x1050 ( best for either 20 or 22" wide). Note the options will state the wrong resolution but it will be in 1680x1050.
Also NOTE , for this to work when u load in to game u must enter in to space once for it to work ie just lift off. Not sure why this is it just is.

new fov values can be calculated using this tool: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/fovcalc.php
-
What is needed is to have the selection for the resolution in the pull-down menu in the options section and to be there as a feature of 1.8, not user implemented.
-
i need all resolutions ready and working (the files for each res)
-
so is somebody working on this or not?
I need to know that. -
Its done, if you would finally tell us how the "files" should look like...
The thing is that there would be needed 3 files per Resolution, but one would be the freelancer ini itself. Thats where everything user specific is stored in, so im not sure how I should give you a file thats neutral and not spcific etc.If all you need is the cam and font setting, Id just have to upload it.
-
Ill just bump this as a reminder to op to answer
-
yes yes im here
just create the files how they should be in FL (working versions)
put them in different directories that contain the resolution in their name... zip it
then you can send it to gen1mds@hotmail.comand i will try and create scripts which update the files in CF based on your templates
-
*bump
is there actually a final result that i can add to cf1.82? -
OP, I know the 1680x1050 wide-screen rez I setup using the tutorial I found here works pretty good, you want me to email you my FL config files for it?
-
what i need are the complete settings for the most common resolutions so i can put the files into CF1.82 and create some FLMM settings
-
With the advent of wide-screen, flat panel monitors becoming cheaper and easily available OP, the 1680x1050 rez is quickly becoming common, along with 848x480, 1024x600, 1280x768 and 1440x900.
Actually, I just noticed the 1680x1050 rez information is posted up near the beginning of the thread.
Copy and paste?

It is not so much the resolution as it is the aspect ratio that needs adjustment. Fonts don't change much, but you need different FOVX values for each aspect ratio. 4:3, 16:9, and 16:10 are the most common.
So, use the fonts above for high resolution and the vanilla fonts for lower resolutions and you should be OK.
For FOVX, I listed the values here: FL on widescreen

look
... what i need is:the neccessary settings for the different resolution put into different versions of the files which have to be altered
eg. one set of files for 1024x768 (which obviously will be the vanilla ones)
one set of files with widescreen resolution 1
one set of files with widescreen resolution 2
bla bla blai cant read through all these posts trying to search for the correct settings while ive actually not even have widescreen and while this thread is probably is meanwhile filled with many settings that are outdated
this weekend ill be finishing the work on the FLMM script
if i have those files then ill put them into the script... if not then ill skip this feature and we keep discussing about such settings everytime a player thinks he has to ask for iti personally dont have the time to take care of this issue

I did not link a thread... I linked a message.
I did not write the script for you, but I gave you exactly the values that you requested. And I simplified the task, as well... just click the link.
Suggestion: Don't even try to use resolution in your script, because there are too many possible resolutions (and there will be more in the future). Use aspect ratio -- which is the way that it works, anyway. That way you will have only 3 options for aspect ratio (plus maybe 2 for Font Size).
Note that the JFLP DLL (also linked in the message) does a better job, and does it automatically. You don't have to use JFLP's other features (such as roll and vertical strafe) if you do not want to. I can give you all of the settings for using JFLP if you want.
Note also that widescreen support in Freelancer is not perfect, no matter how you do it. There will be times when the player will be stuck on a base, with no way to launch, because the top menu bar will be off screen. The way to fix that is to Alt-Tab out of the window, change screen resolution to 4:3, restore the window, launch, then repeat to reset your screen resolution. It is a kludge, at best. Your script should caution users about this.

the aspect ratio alone is not what i requested about 8 weeks ago
it is an absolutely useless setting if you still have to do all the other settings by hand (resolution... font size... bla bla bla) -

it is an absolutely useless setting if you still have to do all the other settings by hand (resolution... font size... bla bla bla)I don't know about eight weeks ago... I just found this thread this morning (and read the entire thread).
OP, there are no other settings. Most of the tutorials on the web are misleading, at best. Read my posts on the subject... they are correct and complete. And certainly not useless.
FOVX is the only thing that must change, and there are only three common options (4:3, 16:9, and 16:10).
Fonts are optional, and there is a post in this thread that contains a set of high-resolution fonts. Fonts are not highly important -- just use two variations (vanilla and the scaled fonts earlier in this thread). Actually, the game is playable even if you do not change the fonts at all.
That is all you need.
I do not think that you have to change the resolution (in PerfOptions.ini only -- it is ignored in Freelancer.ini). I think that the game will figure out resolution by itself (although you might want to give that a quick test). I would test it for you, but I don't even have Freelancer installed right now (and am a little busy with other projects).
You are making this too hard for yourself (and not listening well, as usual!).
-
not listening well? and i always thought to notice details that others dont see
look ... i know for sure that the aspect ratio is not enough
ive a notebook with a standard resolution of 1280x768 and ive applied your settings to it (eventhough your settings appear to miss some standard camera values)
I can not even choose a widescreen resolution (i actually cant even choose that standard res)
so in other words... on my notebook... with widescreen display 16:10... i dont even get a widescreen resolution running in FL... the aspect ratio makes no difference ... even not when launching and dockingnext to this fact it is clearly impossible that the vanilla fonts setting fit to higher resolutions... that is technically not possible (and ive seen enough screenshots showing that)
