i installed the crossfire mod and i think its really awsome. but for my taste the enemies are too hard. they refill their shields and hull to fast. is there a way to change this. for example activating the original ai or something?

no,i don't think it's possible
btw i think it's less boring than having a killing rate of 7-8NPCs/second,as the normal game is ...
9-11 nomad isn`t hard npc 1 fighter withour upgreads can kill them but he will need use 1 or 2 times shild batteries or nanobots
the best NPC are 6 DK ace or heavey fighetrs they are 5 times stroger than nomads
nomads will meet you only in Freeport 7 in nomad lair or in Death valley every day(+ i nomad systems unknows and lost paradise) and sometimes in X
sometiemS DKs are in NEw Berlin in New LOndon in New Tokyo or in X-3043
if you will buy normal ship and normal shild noamds cannot kill you but DKs are too strong
they appare in these systems 1 times in 1 month as i know
so buy Eagle or anothere good fighter and guns and you willn`t be killed so easy
Lol well I think I read a post where OP said that the function can't be deactivated, meaning the shield batteries and nanobots stay. So you'd better buy something that drains shields fast
Oh and Homeros you forgot Outer Dyson Sphere and Dyson Sphere where Nomads are spotted, plus The avarage kill rate in ODS of Nomads is 3 per 5 seconds if you're using 4 guns and you get lucky If you don't but still shoot at something it will be down in a second or two. And all that is provided you're using the attempt of Cap ships being able to be used by fighters *PPC's infocard ^^*, meaning you use 4 PPCs/DKAs/CGGs = you're imba
I wonder what will it be if a person uses 4-6 Skyblaster B guns *8.33 shots per second (being the best ones on the market ^^)*
okay the majority thinks that the npcs are fine like that, but i personally always enjoyed that freelancer was kind of "easy entertainment" with an exciting story line. and again: i think crossfire is great, but i PERSONALLY would wish the old ai back and also would like to keep all the other new features. So if anyone has an idea how to get this problem solved, tell me

I think that perhaps your problem is that you have just started and do not have the weapons or ship to do the job. What ship do you have and what are the guns you are using?
if you want fly safe buy Battelship 280 000 armor it costs 49.9 milion + 80 milion guns from sovetskaja:D and you will be fly safe
every NPC will need a lot of time to kill you
it is flying Armor
I've seen New Berlin NPCs wasting a Battleships, same with X-3043 NPCs, there is no safe flight with anything However you have the biggest survivability, and the biggest chance, with fighters due to their manueverability ^^, especially the little fast ones.
Well, he's got a point, the enemies on the start are way too hard. With the starting ship you can do virtually nothing. Ofcourse it's easy with a battleship
I agree that the enhanced enemies are better if you're in the later fighters, but there should be an option to revert to the old AI for those just starting a new game, or, come to think of it, for those who would rather play as something other than a fighter. I personally quite enjoy being a freighter, Firefly style [albeit with more ship guns], which is a right bastard with the improved AI.
Afaik NPCs will be easier for newcomers in 1.8
